Collector - Finance

The Collector performs the day to day operations of the Collection Team.

JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Reviews accounts to determine which are delinquent.

2.Contacts payors to resolve payment issues timely.

3.Performs primary and secondary collections, such as follow-up on unpaid accounts. receivable through telephone contact or by means of online tools.

4.Maintains accurate and update regularly the necessary commentary with payor contacts to manage accounts.

5.Monitors progress of payment and schedules follow-up actions needed on accounts

6.Prepares reports on results obtained from collection efforts.

7.Identifies and directs the resolution of reimbursement issues with insurance carriers.

8.Interacts with insurance carriers when issues are identified and presents solutions to management.

9.Reports any outstanding issues to Collection Supervisor.

Formal education required:

• High school diploma required. Associate degree preferred.

Previous experience required:

• At least two years experience in similar type setting

• Must have experience dealing with health care collections

• Thorough understanding of Medicaid, Medicaid Managed Care and Commercial Insurance

• Understanding of documentation such as EOBs

• Knowledge of billing guidelines such as timely filling limits as well as CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10 codes
