Overview

The Collective Impact Data Specialist will support the Collective Impact project to monitor the Rural Accelerator Initiative (RAI) in Orangeburg County. The Data Specialist will help define and maintain the data and knowledge management systems including: collecting and quality checking program and population data from multiple sources; compiling reports on frequent deadlines; and developing innovative solutions to data collection challenges as they arise. The Data Specialist must be very strong at collecting and managing data and data systems, as well as conducting data analyses for all sectors of the Orangeburg Community.

Responsibilities

The Collective Impact Data Specialist will oversee all of the Rural Accelerator Initiative data collection systems, and will support data analysis and reporting on behalf of the RAI. Under the supervision of the Dean for the School of Education and the Director of Academic Advising, the Data Specialist will include, but not limited to the following:

Manage and continuously improve systems and data monitoring and analysis for the Collective Impact team of Orangeburg County.

  • Establish and manage data monitoring systems and accountability mechanisms, and reporting for RAI. Ensure that RAI working groups utilize effective feedback mechanisms throughout the initiative;

  • Manage all program data collection. This includes providing technical assistance to Collective Impact Program Director, coordinating data sharing agreements, data submissions, and data checking, cleaning, and analysis;

  • Compile and visualize disaggregated trend data on locally-identified indicators along the cradle-to-career continuum (e.g., 3rd grade reading proficiency rates; 5th grade math proficiency rates);

  • Help design, administer and collect surveys that inform strategy design (e.g., pre and post surveys; program surveys). This may include online/paper survey distribution, copying, and scanning, as well as tracking survey submissions;

  • Lead data aggregation, analysis and visualization that can inform real-time decision-making;

  • Manage and act as focal point on all RAI data;

  • Perform extracting, importing, and exporting of data in various database applications;

  • Perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis;

  • Assist in preparation of presentations, marketing and other materials;

  • Help ensure that all sensitive data is kept confidential and that data collection and management methods meet child safety policies;

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor Degree in a field requiring significant quantitative data analysis

  • coursework, plus 3-5 years of related experience

  • Intermediate Excel skills including facility with formulas, pivot tables, and advanced filtering tools

  • Strong data visualization skills: ability to create graphs and tables that clearly communicate findings

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Extreme attention to detail

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities

  • A strong and actively engaged team player

  • Excellent project and time management skills

  • Excellent relationship management skills, including upward management

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with SharePoint

  • Experience with online learning management systems

  • Understanding of relational data management concepts

  • Understanding of program design and evaluation

  • Qualitative data collection and analysis experience

SALARY

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
