Richman Property Services, Inc. is currently seeking a hands-on, team-oriented onsite Collections Specialist with a can-do attitude to join our team in Connecticut!!

The Collections Specialist will work out of Rippowam Park Apartments, our 431 unit residential community located in Stamford, CT!

  • This position is eligible for $1000 sign-on bonus paid as follows ($500 paid at 3 months, remaining $500 paid at 6 months of service), all bonuses are paid in conjunction with our normally scheduled payroll time frames).

  • Day time schedule, Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm, with a one hour lunch break daily. Full time benefits available!

SUMMARY: The Collections Specialist is responsible for monitoring accounts to identify overdue payments, contacting all delinquent accounts within the portfolio, issuing Demand and Default Notices as needed, keeping accurate records and reporting on collection activity. The Collection Specialist would work closely with the Property Manager, Accounting and Sales teams on delinquent tenants that are seeking assistance via restructuring of their contractual obligations. The Collections Specialist will also assist the accounting department to reconcile billing issues or payment misapplications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • LIHTC Experience preferred

  • Reviewing open accounts for collection efforts.

  • Making outbound collection calls in a professional manner while keeping and improving tenant relations.

  • Collect tenants' payments in accordance with payment due dates.

  • Identify issues attributing to account delinquency and discuss the issue with the Property Manager (when needed) regarding tenants which might need to be placed on suspense or sent to an outside collection agency or the customer that may benefit from payment deferrals or whole-term debt restructuring, etc.

  • Work closely with the Property Manager on those accounts that are trending toward repossession.

  • Identify issues with billing, pricing, systems, etc., and escalate as needed, including assisting the Accounting Department in resolving any billing or payment misapplication issues.

  • Maintain and document communication with customers; this includes updating all tenant's comment logs, drafting and sending all Demand, Default, and other Notices to delinquent tenants.

  • Prepare reports for management.

  • Work with other departments to ensure that client/customer expectations are being met.

  • Strong communication skills with internal and external and both writing and interpersonal. Maintain a professional attitude toward the tenants, especially in difficult situations.

  • Ability to work independently and to adapt to a fast-changing environment

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma, 1-2 Years of Experience in Accounts Collections in a Property Management environment highly preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus! Yardi experience also preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years of collections experience in leasing industry.

SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Self-starter, detail-oriented with professional communication, customer service, organizational, and analytical/problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to operate various types of office equipment, i.e., computers, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, and facsimile machines.

  • Proficient with multiple computer and software programs.

  • Able to accept supervision, speak clearly and calmly, working towards win/win resolution of issues.

  • Participate in team meetings and/or training sessions.

  • Exhibit sound judgment, ability to ask appropriate questions, seek guidance and communicate outstanding matters with direct supervisor.

  • Able to prepare reports as requested.

PTO - All employees are eligible to accrue up to 6 days of PTO (paid time off and sick leave).

VACATION - Employees who regularly work greater than 20 hours per week will earn up to 10 days Vacation time with the potential for 15 days after 3 years with us!
