One of California's preeminent law firms is seeking a Collections Specialist with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a law firm environment for its Los Angeles office. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and experience working with clients, attorneys and staff at all levels. A high degree of professionalism and customer service skills, as well as the ability to adapt to changing priorities, are required. Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook), as well as proficiency in Aderant (accounting software), are a must. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Collections Specialist will be responsible for working collaboratively with the attorneys and clients to manage collections within a certain dollar range by following firm/client specific guidelines. The Collections Specialist is also responsible for providing daily updates to the A/R Manager and the Managing Partner. Providing coverage for posting cash receipts, financial reporting (including weekly top 50, highest to lowest, and over credit limit reports), handling arbitration notices, and sending month-end reminder statements and monthly attorney A/R reports are among the Collection Specialist's regular duties. Other tasks include responding to questions related to accounts receivable, handling retainer transfers and applications, handling write-offs, research and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
5 years' experience in a collections position in a law firm environment preferred
Strong Excel skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Aderant experience preferred
Bachelor's degree preferred
