1st Financial Bank USA (1FBUSA) is seeking several new Collections team members for its upcoming training class. Minimum salary is $14.85 hour (includes shift differential) and higher based on requisite skills and experience plus commissions.

Job Profile

As a Customer Assistance Professional/Collections Representative on our Collections team, you will help create successful solutions over the phone with our Credit Card Members whose payments are past due. You will be responsible for advising Card Members of their account status and offer a variety of payment arrangements that will assist them in resolving their account delinquency. Successful candidates are good listeners, problem solvers with attention to detail who enjoy customer interaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Advises Card Members of their account status.

  • Advises Card Member of available programs and payment arrangements based on account delinquency, over the credit limit amount and due date.

  • Complies with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), state and federal laws, and 1FBUSA's policies and procedures governing collection activities

  • Verifies and updates all Card Member contact information.

  • Records all transactions and arrangements on Card Member account.

  • Generates follow-up transactions when necessary.

Full-Time Work Schedule:

  • Monday
  • Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • 2 Fridays per month from 8-4:30 p.m. and 2 Fridays per month from 10-6:30 p.m.

  • 2 Saturdays per month from 7-3:30 p.m.

  • Last day of every month from 7-5 p.m.

Coordinates activities with third party agencies, insurance companies and patient. Engages in a program of follow-up on delinquent accounts. Responsible for the correct and accurate maintenance of records. Have initiative, common sense and the ability to use discretion and independent judgment in making decisions in varied situations as it relates to patient accounts. Be firm in a courteous and tactful manner in dealing with patients. Does follow-up on the Accounts Receivable Aging Analysis to make sure all accounts are being worked. Handles the calls from patients or responsible parties of accounts. Also, handles calls from individuals who may be entering the hospital at a future date. Responsible for all follow-up in connection with the collection of account balances due. This will include contacts by telephone with insurance companies and agents, other departments of the hospital, patients, etc. Collection notes will be reviewed at appropriate time intervals for determination of further collection action. This action may include telephone contact or computer generated collection letters. Maintenance of accurate information within the computer system to enable others to determine where the account is within the collection process. Will handle incoming telephone inquiries and incoming mail on all accounts within their responsibility. This will include the writing and typing of correspondence in answer to these inquiries. Will review accounts and determine when all collection efforts by the hospital have been exhausted and then refer the unpaid account on for further collection action with the collection agency. Will work closely with the collection agency in the correlation of the information to enable the collection agency to correctly deal with the accounts. The work day will be 90-95% spent on the phone either receiving calls, or making collection calls to patients, physicians, departments or insurance companies.Consistently demonstrates ability to input data accurately into computer system. Consistently ensures data is entered accurately and in timely manner. Consistently answers the telephone courteously by the third ring. Consistently takes accurate messages by repeating key information to verify accuracy. Maintains and updates computer skills as needed for work assignments. Ensures all reports are accurate and completed in a timely manner.Be able to work with growth and development needs of unique client populations. Strong communication skills. Good working knowledge of collection laws as well as requirements of collection agencies mandated under the FDCPA standards. Have good working knowledge of submission of claims for all payors. Be able to manually calculate patient portion based on insurance benefits, though the system will calculate the same information. Have good working knowledge of all collection policies set forth by the Accounts Receivable department. Tact and courtesy in dealing with patients. Cooperation with other workers. Memory for detail. Considerable initiative and judgment involved in estimating credit risks, devising plans for payment and collecting delinquent accounts. Familiarity with Data Processing capabilities and procedures is necessary. DEPARTMENT DETAILS The Patient Accounts Representative will spend 90-95% of their day on the phone either receiving calls, or making collections calls to patients, physicians, departments or insurance companies. The hours for this position are Monday-Thursday 9:30-6:00 p.m. and Friday 8:30-5 p.m. This position will sit in either Fargo, ND or Sioux Falls, SD. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of a high school education, however, some trade course classes in accounting, business and communications would be very helpful in this position.
