SUMMARY
The Collections Analyst will serve as the primary contact for the credit & collections, customer service, and cash application functions. This position will manage the customer base in a positive manner and will help the department reach its cash collection goals. The Collections Analyst will be responsible for the credit and collection efforts, as directed by the Accounts Receivable Supervisor, to ensure proper coverage of delinquent accounts and provide feedback on unresolved issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for collection activities over all customer accounts, including but not limited to consistent & timely follow up, adhering to the standards of responsible collection practices.
Make collection calls & emails using professional and clear language with a "customer focused" mindset, leading to payment resolution by proactively identifying issues.
Resolution of customer inquiries (email & phone) expected within a 24-hour turn around.
Provide analysis and feedback to manager, explaining variances in customer cash trends.
Escalate severely delinquent accounts to legal department, providing background and any other requested information.
Request and summarize updates for accounts with legal on a quarterly basis.
Prepare accounts of concern for bad debt reserve on a quarterly basis.
Cash applications and adjustments to specific customer accounts as directed by manager.
Periodic review of short payments and unapplied payments; working with business partners to understand circumstances and facilitate resolution.
Ability to diagnose and correct misapplications within the Microsoft Navision accounting system.
Gather trade credit reference information as needed.
Complete ad hoc projects and related deliverables, as assigned.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
4-year college degree preferred, but not required with Accounting, Business, or equivalent experience
Three to five years previous collections experience within an Accounting environment
COMPUTER
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
Proficient and accurate ten-key and keyboard data entry
