Job Description:

Conduct blood donor health history screening to determine eligibility or complete donor phlebotomy in addition to multiple blood drive support activities. Demonstrate excellence in customer service and public relations to promote a positive, professional image of the American Red Cross Biomedical Services.

Drive blood collection vehicles, including vehicles requiring CDL, to transport required supplies, equipment, blood products and staff to and from mobile sites. Load and unload trucks and other vehicle as required.

Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures, Safety Quality Identity, Potency Purity (SQUIPP), regulations outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other applicable Federal, state and local regulations.

Responsibilities:

1.Comply with applicable Federal, State and local regulations as well as all American Red Cross policies, procedures and guidelines.
2.Perform whole blood collection procedures (allogeneic, autologous, directed, therapeutic) or conduct donor health history screening procedures.
3.Conduct donor greeting, processing and packing blood and donor reaction care as assigned.
4.Perform daily function checks, assemble and maintain supplies and equipment to ensure a state of readiness and to maintain compliance.
5.Function with team effort to ensure efficient donation process focused on donor and sponsor expectations. Maintain positive public relations to promote a professional image.
6.Operate any ARC vehicles including those that require a CDL operator license. Transport supplies and equipment in a state of readiness and to ensure compliance. Operate assigned vehicle according to applicable regulations and in compliance with fleet policy. Perform vehicle checks and complete DOT paperwork per established protocol.
7.Load, set up, maintain and tear down supplies and equipment in a state of readiness and to ensure compliance.
8.Complete required readings and training assignments by assigned deadline.
9.Perform other related duties as necessary.

Scope:

Drive ARC vehicles throughout the blood region to collection sites, set- up and tear down and provide other related donor and operational support. Will have frequent external customer (donor and sponsor) contact.

Balance production, customer service and compliance on a daily basis, ensuring integrity of product and optimum donor experience. As an integral link between donors and ARCBS, portray a commitment to customer service by conveying and demonstrating a consistent style of professionalism.



Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Medical assistant or phlebotomy training is preferred.

Customer service experience, effective verbal communication, and public relations skills are required. A current valid driver's license and good driving record is required. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.

Previous truck and/or bus driving experience is preferred. Required to pass applicable DOT physical and related requirements and be able to possess or obtain a medical certification of at least one-year duration. Basic computer skills desirable.

Requirements:

The duties above indicate the essential functions of the position. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Physical requirements may include the ability to lift to 50 lbs., squatting, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes is required.

At the American Red Cross, we conduct many mobile blood drives at businesses, schools and many other locations. All staff work as a team to setup and tear down the equipment required to conduct a mobile blood drive. This involves pushing carts up to 250 lbs., setting up beds and handling many totes containing equipment and snacks for the donors.

Exposure levels are based on the essential functions as stated in this position description; however, in some instances, variances may occur due to the applicable nature of this position within a particular work site. Therefore the work site may determine the exposure level to be greater than or less than the below stated level.

This position is an exposure determination I in view of the fact that the position requires the incumbent work under conditions where the potential exists for the incumbent to make contact with blood or blood components as a result of splashes, spills, and/or needlesticks.

We are a close-knit group that works together to provide the best service to both new and existing customers. Job Summary Drivers load trucks and make merchandise deliveries and pickups. They work safely at all times. They are friendly, observant, and able to determine customer needs and communicate that information to the Manager and/or Warehouse Supervisor. Warehouse Employees are generally responsible for counting, verifying and receiving incoming vendor shipments and customer return material; for stocking and maintaining the warehouse; and for picking, documenting and packing customer orders in accordance with Company policy and procedure. Their attention to detail ensures the highest levels of customer satisfaction. Job Duties * Drive Hajoca truck, operating it safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws and regulations. Destinations include job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, facilities of other wholesalers, or other locations as directed by management. * Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered. Secure the load properly so that nothing will shift, get damaged or fall from the truck. Ensure the necessary equipment to safely unload the merchandise is available. Affix the appropriate DOT hazmat truck placards if hauling hazardous materials in excess of 1,000 pounds. * Understand the shipping documents that are associated with the merchandise for each delivery, and have accurate directions to each delivery destination. * Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it where the receiving party wants it. Obtain legible signature for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure. * For all cash sale deliveries, collect and secure outstanding payments prior to releasing the material to the customer. * Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately. * Load the truck at other locations with merchandise. This includes merchandise picked up at vendor locations, returned by customers, and purchased from other wholesalers. * Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses discovered in the course of making deliveries. * Inspect the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure from the Hajoca location. Keep truck clean of debris in cab and body. * Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck. At the end of the workday, complete the Driver's Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a delivery vehicle with a gross weight greater than 10,000 pounds. * At the end of the workday, remove keys from the truck and store keys in the approved location. * Receiving Duties o Upon receipt of a vendor shipment or customer return, obtain the packing slip and count and verify material received. Note received quantities and all shipping discrepancies (overshipments, undershipments, mis-shipments, damage/shorted freight claim) on the packing slip. o Print and verify the computer receiving documents and receive material in the system or, when applicable, forward the receiving documents to the office personnel for data entry. o Identify nonstock, special order material and damaged material and store in proper warehouse locations. o Note all shipping discrepancies on freight carrier's Bill of Lading; initiate freight claims with freight carriers or forward appropriate paperwork to designated employee. * Picking and Shipping Duties o Pick material for orders, note quantities picked on the shipping document, assemble and package the materials for shipment/pick up. o Check picked material against printed ticket to ensure accuracy. o Complete necessary documentation for customer shipments delivered via third-party carrier. * Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
