PBNA $36-$38/hr by exp Position is responsible for the safe and proper performance of assigned operating and maintenance tasks from the control room. Completes a thorough inspection and turnover of the plant prior to assuming the shift. Position also directs routine preventive maintenance during normal shift and outages. This position requires standing watch for extended periods of time (12 hour shift), walking around the facility, climbing ladders, working on raised platforms and catwalks, lifting equipment, working with and around water treatment, boilers, gas turbines and various industrial chemicals, working in permit required confined spaces, wearing respirators and personal protective equipment and working outside during inclement weather. This position requires weekend and/or holiday work as well as rotating shifts. PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES: * Perform plant start up and shut downs, as well as changes in plant operating modes and configurations

  • Review and adjust water treatment chemicals and operations for various plant chemical injection and boiler water treatment systems

  • Conduct routine operational performance reports and pass down Logbook entries

  • Review Outside Plant Operator shift logs, reports and records

  • Review and direct preventive maintenance tasks

  • Respond to plant upsets and emergencies

  • Supervise LOTO (lock out tag out) of all department systems

  • Interface with Manufacturing plant and other departments

  • Directs and leads other Technicians

  • Provide relief and coverage as needed

  • Perform new hire on-boarding training and confirm performance of the Sr. Board Operator(Tech II) and Outside Operator (Tech I) positions

  • Perform assigned maintenance during outages

  • Assist maintenance technicians as needed BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: * 18 years or older

  • Two years technical apprenticeship or relevant U.S. Military training plus two years experience in power plant operations, maintenance or other industrial equipment operation OR in lieu of formal training, four years of commercial or U.S. Military experience in the operation and maintenance of power plants or machine rooms

  • Two years experience related to control room operations

  • Experience with pumps and steam production and critical equipment operations

  • Experience with water treatment and testing

  • Experience working with RPMs, critical pressures, lubrication, and mechanical operations

Do not leave staging area without instruction from supervisor.</p></li></ul><p>FIELD DUTIES</p><ul><li><p>Act courteously, respectful, and professional always with residents, Contractors, County or City officials and fellow employees and managerial personnel.</p></li><li><p>Meet truck(s) at designated loading or staging site.</p></li><li><p>Monitor and observe all loading activities of trucks, bobcats, front-end loaders, or other vehicles as instructed by the supervisor.</p></li><li><p>Confirm that the hauling contractors are loading only eligible storm related debris, which is on public rights-of-way or property, and that they are not going on to private property to collect debris.</p></li><li><p>Get out of your vehicle to observe loading activities.</p></li><li><p>Wear safety vest and hardhat always while out of vehicle.</p></li><li><p>Remain a safe distance (50 feet) from loading operations and street traffic. Check area for children, downed power lines, unsafe traffic conditions. Report any safety issues or unsafe or reckless contractor behavior to your supervisor.</p></li><li><p>Call supervisor if you cannot determine debris eligibility or have any questions about policies, procedures, or your responsibilities.</p></li><li><p>Make sure truck is fully loaded and safe to travel; tailgate is secure, debris trimmed and not sticking out of sides or piled too high to ensure debris not likely to fall off.</p></li><li><p>Make sure contractors pick up all eligible debris and clear branches and other debris off roadway and private driveways before moving on.</p></li><li><p>Fill out load tickets accurately and completely. Always reference name of the cross streets where debris came from. Write neatly and hard enough to make sure all copies are clearly legible. Sign all tickets.</p></li><li><p>Retain bottom copy of load ticket and give the rest to the truck driver. Log the information from the ticket into a ticket log sheet.</p></li><li><p>Ensure you and the truck driver agree where he/she will be going after disposing of debris. Get their mobile phone numbers and give them your mobile number.</p></li><li><p>While trucks are in transit to and from the Disposal Site, scout the area for debris and log ineligible piles, update maps of debris collection progress, locate special debris (white goods, stumps, hazardous waste) and log and map.</p></li><li><p>If bobcats or loaders continue to move debris while trucks are away, stay and monitor their activities to ensure they do not go on to private property to get debris.</p></li><li><p>Record all damages caused by Contractor to private property or public utilities. Call Supervisor to report damages.</p></li></ul><p>DAILY PM</p><ul><li><p>When trucks are finished for the day, report into supervisor at designated area then return to base if not assigned to another truck or task.</p></li><li><p>Turn in all tickets, logs, maps, and field forms. Update master map if required.</p></li><li><p>Brief Supervisor on day's activities, debris collection progress, issues, or problems.</p></li><li><p>Check for information updates, scheduled meetings, or next assignment, as necessary.</p></li><li><p>Sign out on both the roster and your time sheet.
