POSITION: Store Manager

REPORTS TO: Director of Retail Operations

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

Manages and directs coffee shop operations and activities to ensure effective and profitable operation and growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Strives to maximize coffee shop revenues and profitability through effective management techniques.

  • Monitors the implementation of standards for shop including but not limited to personnel administration and performance, service to patrons, advertising, and publicity. Adheres to and enforces all company and departmental policies and procedures.

  • Monitors overall condition of restaurant, public areas, and outside grounds; ensures that deficiencies are rectified.

  • Maintains visibility and accessibility to patrons, staff, and vendors; maintains effective communication with all staff to ensure shop is performing at established standards.

  • Ensures that patrons' needs are fulfilled, and their dining experience is as pleasurable as possible; responds to guest feedback, including complaints/problems.

  • Establishes par levels for supplies; monitors and maintains proper inventory levels; authorizes purchase orders for supplies and relays equipment needs to management.

  • Follows proper documentation procedures for accurately tracking orders and inventory

  • Ensures all operations follow all legislated health and licensing guidelines; ensures adherence to all health and safety regulations and procedures.

  • Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of all menu items available and characteristics/description of every coffee selection available for sale; all menu items, preparation method/time, ingredients, sauces, portion sizes, presentation, and prices.

  • Assists staff with job functions as needed to ensure optimum service to all guests.

  • Hires, trains (with assistance), supervises, motivates, and develops shop staff; manages schedules and workflow. Strives to maintain employee turnover at acceptable levels while maintaining agreed upon full-time and part-time ratios for staff.

  • Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance.

  • Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.

  • Regular and consistent attendance is mandatory. Manager functions as an active member of the coffee shop staff approximately 80% of each week.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises 10-20 employees within their store location.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing & hiring (with assistance from management), and training employees (with assistance from training team); planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Moderate physical effort may be required to lift a maximum of 50 pounds to shoulder height. Requires the

ability to stand on feet the majority of shift and to walk, carry materials, kneel, stoop, and bend/twist at waist, climb a ladder up to 5 feet off the ground, manually operate food service equipment, and the continual use of hands. Requires the ability to hear and talk with customers and co-workers. Regularly required to handle food and hot beverages.
