Job Description:

This opening is for our Center of Excellence (CoE) in Manufacturing group as a part of Arconic's global Business and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit. We are the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry and our Kawneer brand manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

The CoE Automation Engineer is accountable for the research and development of physical and digital automation solutions that improve plant safety, efficiency, and productivity by utilizing the latest automation technologies.

Please note this position requires the ability to work in Springdale, Arkansas Plant with the ability to relocate to Bloomsburg, PA within 15-18 months.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Guide and direct small teams to achieve project objectives including the set up and execution of smart manufacturing deployment across BCS locations;

  • Champion the transition of traditional manufacturing processes to automated processes and develop a strategic plan to increase the use of automation throughout the business;

  • Provide specialized technical expertise in the application and use of Control, Automation technology and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for plant facilities and processes;

  • Improve the overall safety of the plant's equipment and processes;

  • Support the integration of smart manufacturing strategies that include planning, budgeting, and execution of Level 1, 2 & 3 systems across manufacturing processes;

  • Participate in development of long range process and facilities planning, capital expenditure and cost savings programs;

  • Provide engineering innovations that will improve process control and product quality;

  • Develop deployment packages to assist plants to copy and paste best practices from plant to plant;

  • Work closely with production, scheduling, purchasing and maintenance to plan work activities;

  • Perform / direct the design, development, and installation of complex engineering projects;

  • Assist in the education and training of employees that directly interact with the automated processes;

  • Lead PLC integration of data to OSI PI for development of historians;

  • Maintain a current awareness of the latest technologies in mechanical, electrical, control, and automation systems.

  • Ability to lead technical activities to meet timing and budgetary targets;

  • Good verbal and written communication skills;

  • A working knowledge of manufacturing processes and improvement strategies;

  • Ability to view standards, systems, and equipment failures as an opportunity to develop stronger systems;

  • Ability to enjoy problem solving and relationship building across facilities;

  • Ability to tell stories with data, educate effectively, and instill confidence in recommendations;

  • Project Management skills to copy and paste existing best practices across the network;

  • Forward thinking and driven to implement change that results in sustainable improvement;

  • Work with CoE team members and automation engineers who will be responsible for Use Case execution and Capex projects;

  • Work with location leaders and engineers on delivering cost savings through digitalization efforts.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science from an accredited institution;

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with software programs for Robots, Rockwell Automation, Siemens, and / or similar control systems;

  • Preferred experience with programming> VB.Net, C#, ASP.Net, Java, Java Script, Microsoft SQL Server, MS Reporting Services, Windows, VMware Server Administration, and / or Network Management.

The CoE Systems Infrastructure Engineer is accountable for the development and coordination of server, database and application infrastructure supporting the COE and staging for the deployment of solutions to BCS manufacturing locations. Please note: This position can be located in any of 3 geographies: Springdale, AR / Bloomsburg, PA or Cranberry Township, PA. Regular travel of up to 50% is expected. Job Responsibilities and Duties: * Design, build, and deploy systems and infrastructure to facilitate the digitalization of the manufacturing processes and operations; * Support the organization enabling problem solving efforts utilizing performance metrics, cost components, quality data, design parameters, machine parameters, process characteristics, etc., using various tools including but not limited to: Business Intelligence Suites, Databases (SQL and OSI PI), Reporting Tools and Statistical Analytical Software; * Work closely and in concert with BCS IT as well as the corporate IT organizations when designing technical solutions and environments; * Work alone or as part of a team to develop, implement, evaluate, procure, and/or support computer systems and information solutions that meet the needs of the customer and add the most value to the company. This is to be accomplished by utilizing technically sound methods of investigation, analysis, design, planning, and scheduling; * Design and implement dashboards and key metric scorecards; * Determine potential causes of problems and devise testing methodologies for validation; * Search and probe questions with peers and process experts that ultimately leads to action and recommendations; * Guide and direct small teams to achieve project objectives including the set up and execution of smart manufacturing deployment across BCS locations; * Analyze and evaluate systems enhancements to drive performance improvements; * Interact with systems users, developers, and location management to collaborate on business solutions.
