This opening is for our Center of Excellence (CoE) in Manufacturing group as a part of Arconic's global Business and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit. We are the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry and our Kawneer brand manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
The CoE Automation Engineer is accountable for the research and development of physical and digital automation solutions that improve plant safety, efficiency, and productivity by utilizing the latest automation technologies.
Please note this position requires the ability to work in Springdale, Arkansas Plant with the ability to relocate to Bloomsburg, PA within 15-18 months.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Guide and direct small teams to achieve project objectives including the set up and execution of smart manufacturing deployment across BCS locations;
Champion the transition of traditional manufacturing processes to automated processes and develop a strategic plan to increase the use of automation throughout the business;
Provide specialized technical expertise in the application and use of Control, Automation technology and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for plant facilities and processes;
Improve the overall safety of the plant's equipment and processes;
Support the integration of smart manufacturing strategies that include planning, budgeting, and execution of Level 1, 2 & 3 systems across manufacturing processes;
Participate in development of long range process and facilities planning, capital expenditure and cost savings programs;
Provide engineering innovations that will improve process control and product quality;
Develop deployment packages to assist plants to copy and paste best practices from plant to plant;
Work closely with production, scheduling, purchasing and maintenance to plan work activities;
Perform / direct the design, development, and installation of complex engineering projects;
Assist in the education and training of employees that directly interact with the automated processes;
Lead PLC integration of data to OSI PI for development of historians;
Maintain a current awareness of the latest technologies in mechanical, electrical, control, and automation systems.
