As the Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for the assignment of coding classifications and abstracting primarily for emergency department patient records as well as inpatient and outpatient records, monitoring and verifying the calculation of DRG's, and assuring the accuracy of the database. Experience with clinical information systems to ensure the accuracy of diagnosis, procedure, patient demographics, and other required data elements is required. This is an on-site position with experience in urgent and emergency care services preferred.

The Coding Specialist reports to the Director of Health Information Management and works closely with all HIM staff to ensure records are processed and maintained in accordance with State and Federal regulations.

Competencies and certifications include, but are not limited to:

  • CCS, CPC, or CPC-H preferred with a minimum of 6 months to 1 year experience. CCA credentialing may be considered.

  • Training and/or experience in Medical Terminology.

  • Anatomy and Physiology classes.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Basic Life Support Heartsaver (HS) level to be completed within three (3) months of hire.

Full Time; 40 hr/wk

Days; 7am-3:30pm

We are seeking a Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist for our Samaritan Healthcare community in sunny, Moses Lake, Washington! In this role, you will perform credentialing and re-credentialing privileging activities of all providers and practitioners including physicians, mid-level practitioners; including a detailed review of documents and data. The Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist also prepares for and supports a variety of Medical Staff meetings, and provides support to the Medical Staff Services Department and Medical Staff Leaders. A keen eye for detail, excellent time management, and efficient organizational skills are desired. The individual in this position reports to the Chief Medical Officer. The Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of Medical Staff Services along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. A successful incumbent would display a high level of diplomacy when interfacing with customers and maintain a high regard for ethics and professionalism. This is a part-time 24 hrs/wk, day position.
