This specialized administrative position will have an impact on the hospital's financial stability by addressing claims and system glitches up front so to expedite claims, minimize future claim denials and delays and streamline the billing/coding processes.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/ExperienceRequired: * High School Diploma or equivalent * Medical Coding Certificate and at least two years of outpatient ICD 9 or 10 diagnosis and CPT coding experience. An additional year of complex outpatient coding experience may be considered in lieu of the certification. * Computer experience required.Preferred: * Associates degree in Medical Records * Experience with health care billingOther Skills/KnowledgeRequired: * Strong knowledge of CPT coding * Competence navigating Epic or other electronic medical record system. * Knowledge of medical terminology including anatomy and physiology, clinical medical surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology, and various medical specialties.* Detailed orientation. * Strong analytical skills to identify variances, correlations, cause and affects, and trends * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office email and Excel * Excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to convey issues in a collaborative, professional and comprehensive manner. * Able to develop and maintain trusting collaborative relationships with individuals and departments. * For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors and fellow members of the hospital team.Preferred: * Trained in ICD10 coding. * Lean Six Sigma process analysis, development and implementationLICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS:Preferred: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator or Registered Health Information TechnicianScheduled HoursMonday - Friday 8:00 - 4:30 pmAbout UsWinchester Hospital serves the health care needs of many communities in northwest suburban Boston for acute-care inpatient services plus an extensive range of outpatient services and integrated home care.
