Coding Coordinator Full Time Days Position Summary

Under general supervision and with aid of coding guidelines, the Coder Coordinator codes diagnoses and procedures of inpatient cardiology accounts according to ICD-10. After coding the above, the coder inputs data into computer grouper to obtain proper DRG assignment.

The Coder Coordinator is responsible for assisting the HIM Director with ACHA corrections. Assists other departments with coding questions, reviews, or inquires.

Responsibilities

Documents the principal diagnosis correctly, documents secondary diagnosis correctly, documents principal and secondary procedures correctly according to UHDDS guidelines. Abstracts records into online system and uses the clinical data editor for inpatients to the appropriate DRG as required.

Correction of AHCA edits. Coding reviews and inquiries.

CODING COORDINATOR FT DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.

Education : High school or equivalent.

Experience : Required: 2 years of hospital coding experience.

Certifications: Required: CCS, RHIA, or RHIT certification.
