Providence is calling a Coder 1 (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR.
Our Coders support within a unique dynamic as they work directly within our Oncology, Children's Development and Integrative Medicine clinic facilities. We are seeking candidates who possess a high level of customer service and are passionate about teaching. Coders work one on one with clinic Providers providing education, feedback as well as being a resource for any coding related questions. Anticipated Schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, day shifts.
In this position, you will:
Perform coding audits and review of outpatient provider services to support coding optimization and compliance for the medical group.
Support multiple specialties across the medical group with coding for evaluation and management and procedural services.
Work side by side with outpatient providers providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and support with the code entry process, documentation, International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision (ICD-9), ICD-10, and Hierarchial Condition Categories (HCC) coding in alignment with current medical group reimbursement requirements.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent
American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) -or-American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) certified coding credential
2 years of working in a medical office or physician billing office, or equivalent office experience
Any AHIMA or AAPC coding-related credential; credential-eligible applicants may apply
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Experience working with physicians, with an emphasis on coaching and communication
Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience
