Code Enforcement Manager

The City of College Park, MD, seeks an experienced professional to lead, supervise, and manage our Code Enforcement team. The manager must have high integrity and accountability standards, strong organization, communication, and computer software skills, and a commitment to learning and excellence.

Responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Supervise field supervisors' daily activities and casework to optimize efficiency and productivity.

  • Ensure that all Code Enforcement program services, activities, and records follow the City, County, and State laws, policies, and regulations.

  • Use proprietary software for code enforcement and permitting processes.

  • Prepare and conduct timely performance evaluations.

  • Facilitate the resolution of complex enforcement issues.

  • Process an enforcement caseload and represent the city in court.

Required qualifications:

  • An associate degree in Code Compliance, Fire Safety, Construction Technology, Building Inspection, or a related field (or the combination of education and experience).

  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in code enforcement, code consulting, or a public safety agency.

  • Two years of supervisory experience.

  • Effective community-based problem-solving experience with high standards for personal conduct.

  • Maryland Fire Inspector III

  • American Association of Code Enforcement (AACE) Certification as Code Enforcement Administrator

Preference is given to those who have:

  • Experience in Accela and GoGov software programs.
  • ICC/AACE Residential Building Inspector

This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting salary range of $85,000 - $93,000 depending on qualifications. The City provides an excellent benefits package, including Maryland State Retirement. The position will be open until June 28, 2024.
