The IT Shared Services Department is looking to add a Programmer / Analyst II to their current Shared Services Center of Excellence Team. This individual will be results driven and an innovative thinker who is willing to challenge norms to create process improvement and business value.

The COBOL Programmer / Analyst II investigates, analyzes, documents and solves a variety of well-defined technical problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Codes and tests application programs under general supervision.

  • Adheres to established timelines, Remedy ticket guidelines and procedures for delivering quality solutions which are defect-free, meet Company standards and customer requirements.

  • Works closely with a variety of Company personnel to deliver quality solutions.

  • Provides thorough knowledge of the technical aspects of systems development including database management, computer architecture and programming languages.

  • Develops a thorough operational and functional understanding of assigned systems for maintenance purposes.

  • Assists in defining customer requirements and developing functional specifications, high level technical specifications, detailed program specifications and other related documentation.

  • Provides time estimates for programming and technical design tasks, contributes to other project planning activities and may serve as or take direction from a Project Lead.

  • Assists support and operations personnel with resolution of techncial problems pertaining to applications, including off-hours support and implementation of production recoveries.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Install, maintain, and support all CICS related program products. Implement new maintenance and fixes in a manner which minimizes risk and customer impact. Plan, coordinate, and deploy new CICS related program products and/or upgrade existing CICS software. Perform System Administrator functions for all CICS systems. Monitor use of CICS systems in order to forecast need for additional resources. Identify and utilize the best methods for adjusting and tuning the system to maximize system performance. Assist the client's application development personnel in resolving application problems. Ensure backup and disaster recovery plans are implemented, tested and used. Other relevant system and application duties as assigned. Required Qualifications (7) years installing and maintaining CICS for z/OS, migrating CICS regions to new CICS versions, applying PTF's and PUT levels using SMP/E, and performing user resource definition requests. (7) years performing ongoing performance monitoring, diagnosis and tuning, troubleshooting CICS problem issues, and working with the developers in resolving application problems on z/OS. Experience using Assembler and COBOL. Experience with each of the following: CICS program products MQ Series, TSO, ISPF, CLIST, REXX, JCL, VTAM, TCPIP, ACF2,. Experience on planning how and when to install new products or upgrading existing software considering impact on end-users. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with Word, Excel and Visio. Preferred Qualifications Understanding of other major zOS subsystems including DB2, IMS, MQ, and zOSMF. Familiar with System Automation, Netview. Working knowledge of TCP/IP and other IBM Network Protocols Education A Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Computer Science or related field with 7+ years of total experience specializing in the administration of a Mainframe zOS environment; additional directly related experience can substitute for a degree.
