Location: Timberlake Farm, Timpson, TX

Schedule: Monday thru Friday including Holidays

  • Required to work 1 weekend every 5 to 6 weeks

Hours: apx 6:15am

  • 3:30am

  • Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Starting Wage: $19.45

Plus, additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends.

Position Summary:

Plans and coordinates activities of farm crew workers engaged in general farm labor within the complex by performing the following duties: SQ vaccinations, blood pulls, house cleanout and wash down; responsible for the farm appearance.

This position is responsible for assisting the Supervisor in coordination of the daily responsibilities of the department by ensuring the Supervisor's instructions are communicated to the team members and carried out timely and correctly. This position will also monitor all equipment to insure it is working properly and notify the supervisor of any needed maintenance while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Schedules and coordinates all farm crew events such as vaccinations; transfer/move/sell; house cleanouts and wash down; blood pulls; selections, etc. in preparation for new flocks and flocks housed (50%)
  • Supervises and assists with blood pulls and vaccinations necessary to monitor and maintain the health of the birds (15%)
  • Performs limited maintenance of poultry houses and fences; drives company vehicle on the farm and outside the farm for repair parts and supplies; opens houses after being treated with formaldehyde as needed. (10%)
  • Insures ground maintenance is kept within the guidelines set forth in the biosecurity guidelines using mechanical and chemical means to control growth of grass and weeds (15%)
  • Meet all certification requirements for wearing a full face respirator (PFT and RFT)
  • Lead positions must currently have and consistently maintain 6 attendance points or less.

Other Duties As Assigned by Supervisor

  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as assisting with all duties of the farm crew; creating PO's in SAP for purchase of supplies and vaccines as needed (10%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:

  • The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly lift and/or move, up to 100 pounds to move items such as partitions, nests, tools, etc. May be required to push/pull or move up to 2000 pounds such as skids of supplies, shavings, slats, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk majority of shift on multiple surfaces; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; talk or hear; stoop/bend up to 1000 times per day; drive a vehicle within the farm complex. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Tools and Equipment: Required to use power tools, drive feed truck with manual transmission, use power washers, some computer work, etc.

  • Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also work in hot, dry, extreme dusty, dark, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments.

  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety goggles and/or glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof aprons, and company issued footwear are required. Ear plugs will be used as required. NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed. A respirator is required for formaldehyde application.

  • Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectants such as Synergize, Lysol, bleach, insecticides, herbicides, rodenticides, formaldehyde, etc.

  • Safety: Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. Team member is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.

  • Mask policy will be in accordance with any local, state or federal requirements but will be provided to any Team Member wishing to wear a mask.
