Job Title: Maintenance Generalist MG04 Job Group: 4 (MG04)

Location: Wadesboro Hatchery, Wadesboro, NC

Schedule: The two Schedules include holidays, will last until the job is complete, and may include call-in duty. First Schedule: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Hours: Begins at 7:00am. Typically positions average 40 hours a week. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Position Summary:

• This position is responsible for assisting in installing, repairing, and servicing all hatchery equipment. Conducts equipment service per PM schedule; orders supplies and maintains inventory; performs housekeeping to maintain a safe and orderly work environment; and coordinates major repairs with external vendors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilties

• Assist Maintenance Supervisor with duties as assigned. (10%)
• Calibrate hatchers and setters. (10%)
• Change and clean setter and hatcher spray nozzles. (10%)
• Conduct temperature checks on setters before eggs are set and assist with setting eggs. (20%)
• Ensure all setter buggies are being correctly placed, all curtains are in the right position, all air lines are hooked correctly, and all buggies are connected, using ladders when necessary. (15%)
• Perform and maintain the PM program. (15%)
• Calibrate pumps for dispensing chemicals; change single and three phase motors as needed. (10%)
• Be on-call as needed, dispense formaldehyde, assist with the emptying of the offal tank, maintains foot pans and hand sanitizer, maintain a clean and organized work area. (5%)
• Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. (5%)
• TSA: Must agree to submit to a Security Threat Assessment. (100%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:

• The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Physical: Must be able to lift/move 50 lbs. and must be able to push/pull 1000-1500 lbs. (on wheels). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend over; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.

• Tools and Equipment: Power tools; climb ladders.

• Environment: Required to work on wet/slippery surfaces, in hot, dry, dusty, wet, cold environment.

• Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required when handling chemicals. Ear plugs will be used as needed.

• Chemicals Commonly Used: Formaldehyde is in use at the facility, disinfectant, lubricants and virocid.

• Safety: Team Member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lock out Tag out, and Personal Protective equipment. Team Member is expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety related risks.

• General Sign Off: The employee is expected to adhere to all company policies. Failure to perform this job to above standards could lead to progressive discipline up to and including termination. Qualified applicants must have at least 12 months consecutive work experience with one employer over the past three years with no gaps in employment of over six months. Work history will not apply to applicants when they have been FULL TIME STUDENTS consecutively for the last 36 months.
