Coatings Chemist

Company Description Adept Materials is a funded startup company developing products that increase the durability, energy efficiency, and comfort of buildings. Role Description Adept Materials seeks a highly qualified Coatings Chemist to develop coating formulations that incorporate the Adept's proprietary multifunctional material technology.

The Coatings Chemist will play an essential role in the development of new products and will work closely with Adept Materials’ R&D team to bring them to market. This is a full-time, on-site role. Responsibilities and Duties:

Develop paired primer and topcoat formulations Measure the physical properties of films Optimize formulations for performance characteristics including building energy efficiency, moisture durability, occupant comfort, film adhesion, drying, and aesthetics Source raw materials for R&D and pilot manufacturing Document test results and track the progress of projects Produce technical reports for customers, partners, and public communications Work collaboratively with our R&D team and industry partners to create valuable product applications of Adept Materials’ multifunctional material technology Desired Qualifications and Skills: Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field Industry experience formulating paints and/or coatings Able to develop formulations from concept to product Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Motivated by entrepreneurship and able to work independently in a startup Passionate about sustainability Additional Information: The job is based at Greentown Labs in Somerville, Massachusetts.
