3M is seeking Technicians to work at the 3M Manufacturing Plant in Columbia, MO. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter. Here, you go.

Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Technician will fill open technician positions within the plant. This could be anywhere from setup, running and maintenance of coater/purification media making processes.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • SME on setup, running, and maintenance of production processes.

  • Perform basic preventative and repair maintenance as well as calibrations needed on chemical, electronic, industrial electrical, hydraulics, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

  • Responsible for writing and revising process documentation, along with ensuring documentation is current and being utilized at all times.

  • Use good written and oral communication skills to work through issues and coach others.

  • Take work direction on orders and priorities from department leadership including Team Leaders.

  • Conduct basic troubleshooting of chemical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.

  • Make data driven decisions by monitoring and analyzing daily production data.

  • Self-starter that can identify improvement opportunities and initiate implementation with high attention to detail. Direct maintenance/Tool & Die personnel as needed with improvement projects.

  • Follow safety guidelines. Obtain Forklift Certification and maintain valid fork truck license. Full face respirator usage required for some aspects of the position.

  • Assist with set up and running of experiments or other nonstandard production.

  • Perform operator duties as required.

This position will require:

  • Weekend work

  • Working overtime

  • Working an 8 or 12-hour fixed shift

This position may require:

  • Working on holidays as needed

  • Short notice shift coverage

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess one of the following:

  • Minimum three (3) years of industrial mechanical/electronic/electrical experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.

  • Possess a two-year Technical Degree/Diploma (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution in maintenance related technology field

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in chemical coating/radiation grafting/vapor coating in a private, public, government, or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic computer knowledge

  • Self-motivated, team oriented and excellent interpersonal skills

  • Experience with web handling systems

  • Experience with clean room protocols

  • Familiarity with laboratory techniques and cGMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)

This posting is for a Technician position at 3M Columbia. 3M anticipates that multiple openings for this position will occur over time. Qualified applicants may be considered as Technician openings occur at 3M Columbia, and 3M will accept applications for up to 6 months from the posting date of this requisition.
