We are seeking a Coastal Engineer to join our team in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Tampa, FL, Sarasota, FL, or Houston, TX. Alternate office locations will be considered for the right candidate.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Demonstrate a high level of understanding of the principles and practices of coastal engineering, coastal hydrodynamics, and wave theory.

  • Demonstrate ability to complete engineering calculations, analyses, and/or modelling for coastal flood hazards, water quality and/or sediment transport, surf zone dynamics, and statistical evaluations.

  • Support the design of shore protection structures.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve complex problems.

  • Manage individual tasks and projects and be part of a coordinated team for larger or multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Communicate effectively and have good writing skills.

  • Maintain and enhance our reputation with clients, approval agencies, and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider and thought leader.

  • Maintain consistently high standards of delivery, quality, flexibility, and innovation.

  • Conduct peer and quality reviews on all applicable projects.

  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned.

What will you contribute?

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Coastal, or Environmental Engineering; Master of Science or PhD Degree preferred.

  • At least 3 years of experience for consideration in coastal or marine engineering.

  • 6 to 10+ years of experience for Mid-level to Senior Level consideration in coastal or marine engineering.

  • Must have a E.I.T or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain P.E. license.

  • Coastal engineering analysis and/or modelling in support of coastal flood hazard studies under a predefined framework, specifically wave runup/overtopping analysis, and wave overland propagation analysis.

  • Experience with statistical analyses strongly desired.

  • Strong technical analysis, investigative, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience using ArcGIS or similar products a plus.

  • Scripting using MATLAB, Python, or equivalent preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to conduct effective client and agency presentations and written technical report preparation, as well as effective skills working in diverse team environments with staff, clients, and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated successful experience in decision making, including making sound defensible business decisions; and identifying, assessing, evaluating, and solving complex problems.

  • Demonstrated project experience through professional publications and presentations.

  • Participate in development of proposals, assist in business development, present at conferences, participate in professional organizations, and have the opportunity to grow nationally.

  • Ability to individually manage stand-alone tasks and be part of team on big multi-disciplinary projects.
