The Kaelber Lab in the Institute for Quantitative Biomedicine is looking for a coadjutant researcher for their Cryo-EM facility with a specialty in Structural Virology. Seeking a self-motivated and independent research familiar with a wet-lab setting and a demonstrated work experience in virus cultivation, cryo-focused ion beam milling, and atmoci-resolution structural analysis.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Terminal degree in the biological sciences (e.g., PhD, DSc), plus at least 5 years' experience post-degree; or terminal professional degree in the medical or veterinary sciences plus at least 10 years' experience post-degree.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Applicants must have the following technical skills:

• Cryo-focused ion beam milling

• Virus cultivation

• Biosafety level 2 operations

• Atomic-resolution structural analysis

Additionally required skills are:

• Commitment to ethical conduct of research

• Self-motivation and independence

• Good documentation habits

• A track record of productive, "wet-lab" results

Equipment Utilized

Cryo-transmission electron microscope; cryo-focused ion beam; cryo-scanning electron microscope; cryo-fluorescence microscope; biosafety cabinet; ultracentrifuge; plate reader; vitrification robot

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Experiments require fine manual dexterity for manipulation of small objects under cryogenic conditions, and vision in low light conditions.
