Primary responsibilities include leading, training, and coaching the volleyball program and assisting with game management responsibilities for the Athletic department as assigned. Also responsible for transporting student-athletes to and from games and competitions as needed and supervising the assistant volleyball coach.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Recruiting experience at the college and/or professional level(s)
Minimum of one year of head coaching experience or:
Two or more years as an NJCAA or NCAA (Division I or Division II) assistant coach or
One year experience as a graduate assistant at an NCAA Division I institution and one year as an assistant coach at the NJCAA or NCAA level
Knowledge of equipment used in the training, coaching, and development of volleyball athletes
Strong ability to communicate with student-athletes, parents, and coaches
Strong ability to successfully recruit via an established recruiting network
Ability to work within supervised guidelines and willingness and ability to execute work-related tasks without constant oversight
Ability to manage the volleyball program and supervise players and staff
Ability to work with people within the department, across the campus, and within the community
Knowledge of NJCAA, NCAA, and NAIA rules and regulations
Must be a person of the highest personal and professional integrity
Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College's insurance policy
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology or Exercise Sports Science
Playing experience on the collegiate or professional level
Essential Functions
Recruit and coach the volleyball team
Coordinate the recruitment of volleyball student-athletes
Train and develop volleyball team members for competition
Drive team transport vehicles as needed
Participate in the budget process and oversee the team's annual operating budget so as not to exceed budget allocations
Make purchases for supplies and equipment in compliance with the policies of the Board; use a bid process when required
Follow the rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Business Office and Office of Administrative Services; use proper forms and submit required documentation
Provide necessary guidance and support to student-athletes
Schedule athletic practices, scrimmages, and games
Supervise and oversee the assistant volleyball coach
Assist in the hiring of the assistant coach as needed
Act as liaison between counselors, academic advisors, financial aid department, instructors, housing director, etc.
Follow the rules, procedures, and guidelines of the NJCAA, NJCAA Region V, the Western Junior College Athletic Conference, Midland College and the Midland College Athletic Department
Propose, plan, and implement fundraising activities/events that fit with the guidelines of Midland College and the Director of Athletics
Perform department-related duties assigned by the Athletic Director, Provost, and President of Midland College
Work cooperatively with the assigned Athletic Trainer and your supervisor to ensure the health and safety of all student-athletes under your supervision

Physical Demands
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus
This position may require occasional travel for games, tournaments, training, meetings, and events both in and out of town
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
Use of manual dexterity
The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
Frequently moves boxes or equipment weighing up to 80 pounds
Duties indoors (95%) and some outdoors (5%)
Ability to work extended hours, including weekends, and attend Midland College or community events
