Salary Range: Salary is based upon the DCTAagreement with DPS. More information can be found in Article 32 of the DCTA agreement. Payments will be paid in either an hourly wage or in the form of a stipend for current salaried DPSteachers. Seasonal non-benefitted position.

Essential Functions and Objectives:

The Coach teaches fundamental and advanced athletic skills and works with athletes to prepare them for competition. The Coach is an expert on the rules, strategies, and techniques required for the sport and is responsible for the coordination and recruitment of student participants among other duties.


Knowledge, Experience Other

Qualifications:
  • Current CPR Certification or the ability to obtain one prior to coaching (online CPR not accepted).

  • Teacher Certification is preferred.

  • Completion of CHSAA coaching registration (if qualified certificated teacher not available).

  • Previous coaching experience or experience working with urban youth preferred.

Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma/equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Employee Category Affiliate Faculty Department TRIO Student Support Services EClass Code Part-Time Affiliate Faculty Position Summary Establishment of Departmental pool for affiliate/Part-Time Instructors of Mathematics for High School Upward Bound (HSUB). Qualified applicants will be placed in the departmental pool and will be considered beginning Spring 2016. HSUB Instructors are part-time at-will employees hired to teach on a per clock hour basis and a semester -by-semester basis. Duties/Responsibilities High School Upward Bound Instructors provide supplemental instruction in the areas of general mathematics through pre-calculus, to pre-enrolled Program participants. Follow Colorado standards-based academic guidelines. Teach specific subject matter to a diverse student population. Help program participants develop competence and confidence simultaneously through a balance of acquiring basic skills and developing conceptual understandings. Provide direct instruction to program participants at the strategic level of intervention in order to supplement core instruction. Provide explicit and systematic instruction to improve students' specific skills, strategies, and concept development. Work with students of diverse backgrounds and who struggle with academic and motivation issues. Employ classroom and behavior management skills. Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, as needed, usually on a semester by semester basis. Affiliate Faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University's benefit program. All such teaching assignments are dependent on budget and enrollment. An Affiliate faculty member's duties include: meeting assigned classes or delivering on-line content consistent with University, School, and Department policies; providing instruction in assigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if appropriate, with department course coordination policies; being available, either face to face or electronically, to students in assigned classes to provide additional academic support as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment; and complying with University-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
