Description
Triple Threat (Competitive Team) Coaches oversee all aspects of the competitive youth girls basketball team, which includes responsibility for coaching a specific age group during weekday evening practices and leading the team through weekend games and regional tournaments. The J's Triple Threat basketball program is a year-round, comprehensive basketball training program focusing on the physical and mental aspects of player development for ages 8-15. Requires a passionate and experienced coach who can foster skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship among young athletes.
Schedule/Location
Part-time, evenings and weekends
Approximately 10-20 hrs/week
Practice at The J and various sites nearby, games multiple locations around the city, primarily in the Johnson County area
Essential Functions
Lead engaging and effective basketball practices on weekdays, focusing on skill development, strategy, and team cohesion
Coach and mentor a specific age group during weekend games, ensuring the application of learned skills and fostering a positive team culture
Develop and implement age-appropriate training programs to enhance players' overall basketball proficiency
Attend and actively participate in regional tournaments, coordinating team logistics and providing strategic guidance during games
Collaborate with parents, addressing concerns, and maintaining open communication channels regarding player progress and team dynamics
Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes both individual growth and team success
Potential opportunities to lead/assist with skills camps, clinics, and individual sessions throughout the year

Requirements
Proven experience as a basketball coach
In-depth knowledge of basketball techniques, strategies, and rules
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with players, parents, and staff
Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes, promoting a strong work ethic and dedication to the sport
Flexibility to accommodate week night practices and weekend tournaments
Positive coaching philosophy and commitment to promoting sportsmanship and fair play
Physical Requirements
Constant talking and hearing to communicate with players and officials
Frequent standing, walking and eye/hand/foot coordination as well as exposure to a generally loud gymnasium environment
Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling of 25lbs, stooping/crouching, sitting, climbing stairs/ladders throughout the building and on the court and repetitive motions to demonstrate and execute skills
