Wentworth Institute of Technology is seeking a Co-op & Career Fellow for the 2024 - 2025 academic year. A fellowship is a training program in which individuals perform research and develop skills to apply in a professional environment.

The Center for Cooperative Education and Career Development (Co-ops & Careers) supports this commitment by connecting students with the co-ops and jobs that reflect their interests and skills. Co-ops & Careers offers a range of programs, tools, and services for undergraduate students seeking cooperative education (co-op) experiences, graduating students and alumni seeking career guidance, and employers who rely on Wentworth to recruit co-ops and full-time employees.

The Co-op & Career Fellow reports to the Sr. Co-op & Career Advisor in the Center for Co-operative Education and Career Development.

This is a temporary, hybrid or virtual part time position for the upcoming academic year. Pay for this role will be in the $15-$19/hr. range.

Develop skills and gain experience:

  • Acting as a Teaching Assistant for Introduction to Cooperative Education (co-op prep course) and Professional Development Co-op, including monitoring student progress, reading and grading assignments.

  • Develop advising skills by meeting with students and student organizations for resume review, orientation to the department, education on tools such as WITworks, preparation for Co-ops & Careers events, and to educate on career paths and best practices.

  • Learn about co-op partnerships by conducting employer research, outreach, and support.

  • Gain industry knowledge by reviewing and approving job postings.

  • Develop event planning and project planning skills by preparing for and executing Co-op & Career events.

  • Sharpen your marketing skills by creating materials for students and employers and curating and managing career development online content.

  • Gain a broad operational understanding of the profession by assisting with tracking and administration of Co-ops & Careers processes, systems, and programs.

  • Develop insights to share with team and students on in-depth topics after conducting research, based on interests and department's needs.

Responsibilities:

Programming and Education (50%)

  • Work with Co-op & Career Advisors in the classroom or virtually monitoring student progress, reading and grading assignments.

  • Prepare for and execute Co-op & Career fairs and events.

  • Develop insights to share with team and students on in-depth topics after conducting research, based on interests and department's needs.

Student Advising (20%)

  • Meet with students and student organizations for resume reviews, orientation to the department, education on tools such as WITworks, preparation for Co-ops & Careers events, and to educate on career paths and best practices.

  • Assist with tracking and administration of Co-ops & Careers systems and programs.

Marketing and communications (20%)

  • Conduct outreach and participate in, and contribute to, effective communications with students via all available channels and in person.

  • Research and create collateral for students and employers, as well as develop and curate online content.

Support operations relating to career services (10%)

  • Review and approve job postings, as needed.

  • Assist with tracking and administration of Co-ops & Careers process, systems, and programs.

  • Contribute to other departmental priorities, as needed.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years, relevant experience gained as an undergraduate or graduate student will be considered.

  • Preference for candidates who can commit to the full school year, late August - late April.

  • Experience with LMS such as Blackboard or Brightspace.
