Title: Computer Operator

Primary Function

The Computer Operator monitors and supports systems identified to be maintained. The incumbent will sign off on the daily schedule to verify operations have been done, monitor systems that have been identified and referring to documentation if issues arise, update documentation on an as need, identifies and resolves operational problems.

The operator will be trained on and be able to cover all three system operation shifts. Provides support to department, such as serving as a resource and trainer to other staff members. The operator will be trained on taking helpdesk calls to cover for helpdesk staff or will be expected to take calls if shift permits.

Update the knowledge management system as needed or requested basis. Uses service management system to document issues that need to be escalated as needed.


Associates Degree in Computer Science or related area, with two to four years experience as in computer operations, or helpdesk, or support, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office Suite.

Ability to analyze problems and select proper corrective action necessary. Good written and oral communications skills and organizational abilities required.

Qualifications Competencies/Skills * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Windows, Adobe Audition or similar audio editing software, Wide Orbit or similar automation system * Time management and attention to detail * Ability to work without close supervision * Flexibility in work schedule, including evenings, overnight and weekends * Functions well in a fast-paced environment with tight timeframes and multiple demands * Works well in a team environment Work Experience * 6 months in a related role and/or technical training Education * High school graduate or G.E.D.
