DRS NIS is a leading designer and manufacturer of highly engineered, technically advanced, defense electronics for U.S. and allied international military and intelligence agency applications. DRS NIS manufactures rugged communications interfaces serving military Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Intelligence and Surveillance (C4ISR) initiatives. Job title- CNC Specialist
The CNC Specialist is responsible and accountable for producing quality work to prescribed standards, with a focus on continuous improvement to meet customer commitments on schedule and within budget.
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs set-ups on a variety of CNC equipment with a general knowledge of Fanuc and Haas controls
Utilizes knowledge of CNC controls to set zero reference points, tool offsets, loads programs,
Run production, monitoring parts to ensure accurate high quality parts are made safely and as efficiently
Utilize the data collection system to accurately record production activities including time spent, quantity produced, and any rejected parts
Programming knowledge a plus
Experience with CNC lathes a plus
Experience using 3D modeling software (Solidworks preferred) a plus
Must be able to read and understand blueprints and drawings, basic understanding of GD&T as well as the ability to work from verbal instructions.
Must be able to use measuring equipment and gages to ensure produced part meets specification
Understanding of safety, quality and continuous improvement expectations in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
Willingness to work overtime to meet production demands.
Ability to effectively interpret data and present as information and respond to questions from engineers and other technical staff
