Primary duties consist of producing CNC part programs under the supervision of more senior technician and/or using established procedures and tools to produce part programs in support of Production needs.
Requirements
Use established manufacturing processes to generate Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) part programs used by Wagstaff, Inc. to manufacture their primary products to produce goods.
Analyze drawings, sketches and design data of parts to determine dimensions and configurations of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates
Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality
Consider tools required to cut different types of materials and program machines accordingly
Interface with machine operators as needed to ensure optimum machine programming
Computes angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to machine parts
Writes instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine
Confer with Manufacturing Support and Production on processes, setups & fixtures
Participate in meetings and on special task force projects
Willing to work overtime as needed
Qualifications
A two-year (2) degree in Manufacturing Technology, Machine Tool Technology or Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent machine shop or relevant manufacturing experience
Experience using Mazatrol, MasterCam and SolidWorks for CNC programming
Interpret mechanical drawings for fit, finish, dimensions and tolerances
Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or logistical problems that arise
The ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential
Experience with interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
Good analytical skills and problem-solving ability
Knowledge of safety practices concerning machine tools

Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, machinery and equipment, and vibration. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. While performing some job duties, there is a risk of electrical shock and other risks associated with a manufacturing environment.
Job duties may require work in high, precarious places, work in outside weather conditions, and exposure to extreme temperatures in some cases. The noise level in the working environment is often loud. Because of this environment and associated risks, use of job appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required.
