Plans, develops, writes, revises, documents, tests, implements and controls programs for computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines and related fixturing.

Prepares machine/process setup and operating instructions.

Designs and/or manufactures jigs and fixtures from sketches, requirement descriptions or drawings.

Provides support, training and problem resolution to operations personnel who use computer numerically controlled machines.

Liaises with engineering regarding component repairs, inspection and induction of new repairs.

Monitors performance, conducts feasibility studies and implements process improvements for computer numerically controlled machines.

Prepares technical specifications and cost benefit analysis for procurement of capital equipment. Liaises with management in the procurement process.

Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.

Carries out special projects as assigned.Thorough understanding of repair design and development engineering, manufacturing processes, tool design, fabrication methods and processes.

Strong organizational, analytical, oral and written communication skills.

Thorough knowledge of computer aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) systems.

Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.

Working knowledge of related company instructions, company processes, reworks process instructions, original equipment manufacturer manuals and Design Approval Organization manual.

Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment.

Regularly required to sit for prolonged periods.

College diploma in manufacturing technology or a related discipline; or equivalent.

Experience using Mastercam and Autodesk Inventor preferred

Experience in a manufacturing environment

Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident per ITAR regulations.

Responsibilities Performs all phases of manual machining and some CNC machining, finishing, and assembly in a job shop or high volume applications. Processes components to meet print and or geometric tolerance requirements. Responsible for the setup, operation and maintenance of production machinery, maintenance of proper documentation, and support of the manufacturing engineering function. Performs setup of manual machines and tool and offset changes on CNC machines. Under general supervision, completes tasks as directed by SOPs, routers, prints, work instructions, and manufacturing schedules. Operates machining equipment with an understanding of machining and metal removal concepts which may include milling, turning, grinding, and other methods. Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined work pieces to specifications using measuring instruments such as fixed gauges, calipers, and micrometers. Adheres to dimensions and tolerances found on prints. May use prints and sketches to determine proper methods and processes. Performs basic machine set up. Performs basic selection and care of special machine tools such as drills, jigs, mills, lathes, and fixtures. Diagnoses basic machine problems using proper diagnostic tools. Learns the maintenance of CNC program files. Maintains machine maintenance files. Reworks productions parts and performs emergency rework and/or modification of production parts as directed. Modifies basic existing processes if necessary. Inspects basic prototypes, machines prototype fixtures and First Article components. Performs in-process checks using measuring devices and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department lead person or supervisor. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations. Trains other employees. Works on projects as part of a team, exchanging ideas and contributing skills that complement those of the other team members. Fulfills commitments to team members. Performs assembly, deburring, and other duties as required. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. 2 to 5 years of related experience with trade school certification preferred where applicable.
