POSITION SUMMARY:Program all CNC Lathes and CNC Machine Centers to form precision metal parts and components utilizing appropriate shop equipment (CNC mills, lathes, grinders, etc.) in a timely and efficient manner with minimal supervision. Plans numerical control program to control contour path machining of metal parts on automatic machine tools.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1.

Uses G-Code and/or software program such as Mastercam to program CNC machines.2. Analyzes drawings, sketches, and design data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, plan sequence of operations, selection/mfg. of cutting tools, fixtures and machine speeds and feed rates to assure efficient use of tools and time.3. Installs collets, bushings, and bar pullers in stock-feeding mechanism, using wrenches and screwdrivers.4.

Positions and secures tools in tool holders, verifying positions with gauges and other measuring instruments.5. Computes angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to machine part.6. Writes instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine.7.

Writes program of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode direct numerical control database to regulate movement of machine along cutting path.8. Revises program to eliminate instruction errors or omissions, if necessary.9. Observes operation of machine on trial run to prove programmed instructions.10.

Perform mechanical tasks including loading and unloading vices, fixtures and parts.11. Establish and set appropriate tool offsets.12. Loads material, starts machine, observes operation, and verifies conformance to specifications of first-run, sample work pieces and in-process parts, using such instruments as fixed gauges, calipers and micrometers.13.

Runs machine through cycle, stopping machine and adjusting tool positions and machine controls to allow for such factors as timing, clearance between moving parts, and chip removal.14. Maintain statistical process control charts by reading and recording measurements when required.15. Visually inspect production for burrs, scrapes, rust and other defects.16.

Replace worn tools.17. Operates bench grinder or cutter-grinding machine to sharpen tools.18. Sets up machines for other workers; instructs workers and provide information as needed.19.

Responsible for maintenance of machine, including but not limited to lubrication and adjustment and repairs of equipment per manufacturer's manual.20. Update data collection system at beginning and end of each task using barcode scanning and basic data entry.21. Maintain organized and clean work area.22.

Receive, understand and follow all written and oral instruction.23. Timely completion of all paperwork associated with position including move tags24. Comply with all company policies and procedures including safety and attendance requirements.25.

Participate in activities to increase personal skill level, overall departmental processes and product quality.26. Resolve day-to-day issues by working effectively with others and communicating problems with supervisor.27. Maintain meet or exceed rating on all performance evaluations.28.

Follow the company safety rules and other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES1. Minimum of 2 years of trade school, vocational education, work experience, or apprenticeship.2. Ability to use a variety of lathes, drill presses, and equipment including tumblers, air hose, hoists, wrenches, tool-holders, vices, etc.3.

Mechanical ability to operate equipment4. Blue print reading skills5. Basic math and English skills for part count, written and verbal work instruction.6.

Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify changes in order to alert department lead.MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:1. Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.2. Lift, carry and move up to 50 pounds of parts and/or equipment occasionally throughout the workday.3.

Ability to use a variety of milling machines, drill presses, and equipment including tumblers, air hose, hoists, wrenches, tool-holders, vises, etc.4. 20/20 vision with or without correction5. Use of hands 100% of the workday6.

Ability to work in shop environment, exposure to high noise levels, moving equipment and machinery; exposure to dust, fumes and mist; exposure to chemicals including oils and cutting fluids.7.
