Required to set up and run manual machine shop machines (lathe, mill, grinder, drills, etc.). Also, required to set up and operate various CNC machines. Sets up and operates multi-axis computer numerical control milling machine to mill surfaces of metallic and nonmetallic work-pieces by performing the following duties
Sets up and operates multi-axis computer numerically control machines to machine surfaces of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces.
Enters commands into control panel to retrieve pre-programmed machine data from server.
Inserts precision indicator in machine spindle, and depresses switches to jog spindle into contact with indicator or probe, synchronize tape and tool, and record setup point.
Compares numerical data display with specifications on operations sheet.
Assembles and presets tooling for next operation during automated cycle to reduce machine downtime.
Replaces milling tools with drilling and boring tools at specified change points to reduce or eliminate subsequent machining of work piece on another machine.
Set up and Operates machine on preliminary dry run, if necessary, before machining first part to detect errors in computer program.
Able to follow set up sheet instructions and provide minor program edits where needed. Starts machine and observes cutting operation.
Ability to read and follow procedures.
Must be able to read shop blueprints and properly use precision measuring devices such as gage pins, calipers, micrometers etc.
Operate manual machinery to fabricate molds according to blueprints and/or verbal and written instructions, holding tolerance to +/- .001
Maintain a clean and safe work environment on a daily basis.
Performs simple and preventive maintenance on all equipment as required.
Maintain quality records, daily production reporting, use ERP Manufacturing System software, and perform part inspections.
Constantly suggesting ways to improve process and trim department costs.
Must have the ability to work overtime and weekend shifts as assigned

Proven mechanical aptitude

Previous experience operating CNC Machines
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and loading/running/editing CNC programs
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
