This is a hands-on role that plans, directs and coordinates CNC Milling Manufacturing Improvements while maintaining a safe working environment.Key Responsibilities:
* Leader in driving continuous improvement projects and developing and maintaining CNC Milling machining processes.
Initiates tooling, process or design changes to improve product performance, cycles times, scrap rates, quality or manufacturing costs.
Works with vendors and manufacturers to optimize cutting technology including tools, tool coatings, tool materials, and lubricants.
Sets up Tooling Trial Tests for process improvement or cost reduction projects.
Demonstrates "Hands-on" techniques and a willingness to cooperatively work with machine operators, supervisors and leads to solve production problems.
Works directly with machinists, programmers, and leads to resolve equipment, process, quality, efficiency or tooling issues.
Utilizes SPC; lead or participate in process improvement efforts.
Actively participates in and conducts process reviews.
Supports manufacturing cost-estimating activities.
Reviews customer specifications and recommends changes to improve manufacturability as required.
Develop CNC Milling machining programs.
Designs machining fixture for current products and/or new product implementation.
Consults with tooling vendors as required to optimize CNC program and tooling performance.
Reviews part programs and CMM or gaging inspection process to assure consistency
Applies statistical methods to determine manufacturing process capability as defined in the quality plan.
- Create Routings, CNC Tooling Set up Sheets, process qualification documentation and Quality plans for new component machining.Knowledge, Skill, and Ability
Strong communication skills, along with blueprint reading skills and GD&T expertise.Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. )Ability to effectively present information to employees and customers
Knowledge of CNC Milling Processes.
Ability to read and react to CMM reports
Knowledge of 3-D CAD/CAM system.
Catia preferred.Ability to plan for and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to understand and implement PPAP, FMEA and Control Plans.Ability to use advanced engineering techniques for problem resolution (FMEA, designed experiment, etc.)Education and Experience Requirements:
10+ Years CNC Machining Operations Experience - Specifically working with Metal Cutting.
High school degree required.
Associates or BS degree in engineering is desirable.CNC programming skills, HAAS programming knowledge is a plus 3-5 years experience
