Maintenance Technician Updated Job Description

Rotation Details: Should be available to work both 1st and 2nd shift.

The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the uptime of CNC machinery, as well as mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Experience maintaining and repairing complex electro mechanical systems is required. Formal education or training in the repair and maintenance of industrial machinery is also desired.

Key Accountabilities:

Preventative maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities.

Identify early signs of failure or maladjustments of equipment.

Use machine controllers (Fanuc, Siemens, Mazatrol, Heidenhain) to determine fault locations and diagnose failure root causes.

Dismantle machines and equipment to gain access to problem areas, remove and replace worn or defective parts. Inspect and measure machine parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.

Communicate and listen to operators and maintenance personnel ensuring production readiness of machines.

Work from machine design drawings, specifications and handbooks.

Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Comply with all company and HSE policies and procedures.

Troubleshoot and repair basic PLC failures independently or with the assistance of third party resources.

Use spreadsheets and databases to track and report failures, downtime, spare parts inventory, etc.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to work without supervision. Needs to be self-directed and take ownership of machine uptime and functionality.

Familiarity with Fanuc, Mazatrol, Siemens, and Heidenhain CNC controllers as well as other industrial control and automation equipment. Knowledge of G Code and M Code programming.

Knowledge of typical alarms and how to remedy.

Detailed knowledge of PLC control theory, ladder logic, and other advanced aspects of industrial automation and control.

Maintenance and troubleshooting knowledge of Okuma, Mazak, Toyoda, DMG Mori and Doosan machines.

Minimum Require Education, Credentials, Licenses and Experience

Mechanical/technical aptitude.
3-5+ years' experience repairing and maintaining CNC machinery and other automated industrial equipment.

Prefer at least a 2 year technical degree or similar training (i.e. -- military or other).

VIEW JOBS 11/18/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-16T00:00 Job Function / Purpose Perform repair and preventative maintenance on two down hole Measurement While Drilling (MWD) tool lines, either pulser (such as APS), retrievable (such as Tensor) or surface equipment (such as DSSI), under direction of more senior Maintenance Technicians Essential Duties * Develop specialization in repair and maintenance for two of the following tool lines: pulser (such as APS), retrievable (such as Tensor) or surface equipment (such as DSSI) * Follow procedures to receive MWD tools and equipment returning from field operations * Locate and follow appropriate checklist for each MWD tool * Test, repair and maintain MWD tools according to checklist requirements using various tool, including oscilloscopes, digital micrometers, digital volt and ohm meters, hand tools, vacuum gauges, pressure gauges, feeler gauges and torque wrenches * Document all repair and maintenance performed on each MWD tool and complete work orders and checklist; deliver to OASIS Assistant * Collect data from each tool according to checklist, including hours down hole, temperature, shock, vibration and external wear and tear * Track and document maintenance cycles for each tool, including serial, part and asset number, job number, job hours, and temperature cycles * When notified of a tool failure by field personnel, learn how to add relevant photos, descriptions, data, information to SQMS database; open incident report when necessary * Disassemble and re-assemble tools * Advise Lead MWD Maintenance Technician of any problems with tools or failures to meet specifications * Maintain clean and organized work area and attend to miscellaneous shop duties * Fill pulsers with oil using proper HSE procedures, including wearing protective goggles, gloves, and safety equipment * Mentor and advise MWD Maintenance Trainees and Technicians I * Perform duties according to on-call schedule * Travel to client job sites as necessary HSE Function Comply with applicable safety standards and maintain a safe working environment QA Function Comply with applicable quality assurance standards Required Qualifications * Strong written and oral English communication skills * High School Diploma or equivalent * 2-4 years experience as an MWD Maintenance Technician I or equivalent industry experience * Experience using hand tools * Clean driving record * Valid driver's license * Ability to be on call according to weekly rotation schedule and be available to work within 1 hour from call * Ability to travel domestically and internationally * Ability to use a computer for accessing and sending e-mail, opening and revising documents, accessing internet and web-based Gyrodata, Inc. systems, including SharePoint, Agresso and ability to use Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint Preferred Qualifications * Associates degree in mechanical or technical field * Oilfield industry experience Working Conditions The job is performed in a shop or warehouse environment with some exposure to safety hazards, potentially including cold, heat, noise, machinery, electricity and chemicals that may require wearing protective equipment and compliance with specific safety protocols. The job requires physical exertion including sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to sixty (60) pounds, carrying, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting and a range of physical motion. The job requires operation of tools, machinery, equipment, computers and telephones. The job requires following written and oral instructions, attention to detail, ability to multitask, ability to work with others and ability to meet deadlines.
