Maintenance Technician Updated Job Description
Rotation Details: Should be available to work both 1st and 2nd shift.
The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the uptime of CNC machinery, as well as mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Experience maintaining and repairing complex electro mechanical systems is required. Formal education or training in the repair and maintenance of industrial machinery is also desired.
Preventative maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities.
Identify early signs of failure or maladjustments of equipment.
Use machine controllers (Fanuc, Siemens, Mazatrol, Heidenhain) to determine fault locations and diagnose failure root causes.
Dismantle machines and equipment to gain access to problem areas, remove and replace worn or defective parts. Inspect and measure machine parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
Communicate and listen to operators and maintenance personnel ensuring production readiness of machines.
Work from machine design drawings, specifications and handbooks.
Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Comply with all company and HSE policies and procedures.
Troubleshoot and repair basic PLC failures independently or with the assistance of third party resources.
Use spreadsheets and databases to track and report failures, downtime, spare parts inventory, etc.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work without supervision. Needs to be self-directed and take ownership of machine uptime and functionality.
Familiarity with Fanuc, Mazatrol, Siemens, and Heidenhain CNC controllers as well as other industrial control and automation equipment. Knowledge of G Code and M Code programming.
Knowledge of typical alarms and how to remedy.
Detailed knowledge of PLC control theory, ladder logic, and other advanced aspects of industrial automation and control.
Maintenance and troubleshooting knowledge of Okuma, Mazak, Toyoda, DMG Mori and Doosan machines.
Minimum Require Education, Credentials, Licenses and Experience
3-5+ years' experience repairing and maintaining CNC machinery and other automated industrial equipment.
Prefer at least a 2 year technical degree or similar training (i.e. -- military or other).
