CNC Machinist V

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated skilled CNC Machining Specialist to join our team in Bloomfield, CT on 2nd shift.

Kaman Specialty Bearings & Engineered Products, a division of Kaman Corporation, is a leader in the design and manufacture of high technology mechanical products used in aviation, marine, hydropower and other industrial applications.

This is a second shift position. Hours are 3:30PM - 1AM - this includes one hour of mandatory overtime at the end of shift for a required 45 hour week.

OT pay is 1.5x the hourly rate for all hours in excess of 40 in a week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Independently sets up, adjusts, troubleshoots and checks out programming and operates all multi axis CNC machining centers (3 or more Lathe/4 or more Mill) to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications.

• Setups involve familiarity with and understanding of program formats involving combinations of operations such as milling, boring, recessing, turning, drilling, threading, screw machine operation, etc., to the capacity of the machine and control factor.

• Checks parts for conformance to specifications.

• Works from programming instructions, operational data and machine setup instructions defining and coding tool. arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations and console settings.

• Perform all responsibilities within productivity and quality expectations.

• May provide technical supervision, training, set-up, tool adjustment, trouble shooting, etc., support to others.

• Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety incidents to supervisor.

• Make recommendations for improvements to work processes. Contribute to 5S program in work area.

• Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contribute to positive teamwork environment.

• Perform other duties as assigned. Participate in learning other positions. Accomplish related results as needed.

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Machinist Training Certificate a plus

Experience:

• 7 years manufacturing experience as CNC Machinist
