Salary Range: $24-$34 per hour

Air Conditioned Shop

4 Day work week Mon-Thurs

We offer many manufacturing processes all under one roof from CNC Machining, Laser Cutting, Welding, Wire EDM, etc. We proudly build long-term partnerships with our customers providing them with on-time delivery and the best-in-class quality manufactured goods. We have extensive manufacturing capabilities and are ISO-9000:2015 certified.

We are looking for a CNC Machinist to program, setup and operate various types of equipment such as lathes, mills, multi process machines, etc. Industries currently served: Heavy Equipment, Paper Manufacturing, Metal Extrusion, Packaging, Railroad, Plastics, and other mid size manufactures.

Functional Role: To safely and efficiently operate CNC centers (lathe, mill, and Intergrex) and manual controlled, equipment to machine material to customer specifications and tolerances.

Reports to: Production Supervisor

  • Machining

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Own or willing to purchase the minimum set of tools required for job performance and a locking toolbox (see attached sheet)

  • Personal Computer experience and ability to perform basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Effective verbal communication skills

  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours and overtime on an as-needed basis, including extra hours during the weekdays, Saturdays and occasionally on Sundays or holidays

  • Physical ability to frequently lift and carry 50 lbs. and to occasionally lift up to 90 lbs

  • For CNC Machinist

  • All above requirements plus:
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a CNC machining environment and,

  • A minimum of one years experience operating Mazak CNC equipment

  • For CNC Journeyman

  • All above requirement plus:
  • A minimum of five years experience operating CNC equipment or a valid Journeyman's certificate/card from any state

  • Three years experience operating Mazak CNC equipment

Measures of Performance and Involvement:

  • Meet production standards as listed on the routing sheet

  • Produce product that meets the required dimensional accuracy and surface finish

  • Operate each machine at optimal capacity and speeds

  • Rework and/or scrapped parts are less than 2% of total parts produced

  • Maintain control of defective parts: do not pass defective parts to the next process

  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning duties as scheduled

  • Maintain cleanliness and order of work area to 5S standards

  • Follow safe work practices, wear all required personal protective equipment, and identify any unsafe conditions observed

  • Communicate problems and opportunities for improvement

Working Conditions: These positions require working in an unconditioned indoor environment where temperatures vary widely during the year. The noise level is very loud such that hearing protection is required. Exposure to dust, lubricants, metal shavings, and oil is on a continual basis. Eye protection must be worn at all times on the shop floor.

Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Note: This job description does not list all duties. You will be asked by management to perform other duties consistent with the nature of your job.

Machine Operator

With assistance, set up CNC machining centers for production

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and schematics,
  • Select and position tools and define sequence of machining operations,
  • obtain proper raw materials and purchased parts,
  • identify, build and install fixtures,
  • select and upload required program,
  • edge find and set work piece coordinates
  • perform first piece inspection process, adjust set up as required

Operate equipment with proper feed and speed to maintain efficiency while achieving the dimensional accuracy and surface finish required

Recognize abnormal operating conditions and shut down equipment. Seek assistance to resolve problems.

Use proper measurement equipment to insure quality, including micrometers, machinist scales, protractors and calipers.

Deburr parts to shop standard

Operate cut off saw, manual lathe, manual mill, surface grinder, and pedestal grinder as needed.

Weld as needed to repair parts (fill holes)

Read, edit and save basic programs to allow parts to be produced on alternative machining centers.

Log in and out of jobs, providing all required information on time spent, production rate, scrap, etc.

Perform planned periodic maintenance on assigned equipment including cleaning, adjusting fluid levels, lubrication, sharpening tools.

Drive forklift as needed.

Follow all safety procedures, including the wearing of all personal protective equipment

Maintain cleanliness and order of work area to posted 5S standards

Able to take and follow verbal and written instructions

CNC Machinist

Performs all duties and responsibilities of Machine Operator, and in addition:

Set up CNC machining centers for routine production, requiring assistance on complex and unusual parts. Works with team leader, CNC Journeymen, engineering and others as needed to resolve issues.

Optimize process to achieve maximum effectiveness

Writes, uploads and saves programs for assigned equipment

Perform basic part checks on CMM

Train Machine Operators and assist with setups

CNC Journeyman

Performs all duties and responsibilities of CNC Machinist, and in addition:

Fully responsible for setting up and operating CNC machining centers. Is assigned the most difficult and complex jobs. Confers with team leader, engineering and others as needed to resolve issues, re-engineer part, etc.

Train CNC Machinists and Machine Operators and assist with setups

Assist in troubleshooting and repair of equipment

List of employee-provided tools and equipment:

  • 6 inch and 12 inch scale

  • 6 inch calipers (dial or digital)

  • 0-6 inch micrometer

  • Depth micrometer set

  • Test indicator ( .0005 in graduations)

  • 1 inch travel indicator

  • Calculator with trigonometry functions

  • General hand tools (i.e. wrenches, screwdrivers, ball peen hammer, crescent wrench, pliers, etc)

  • Appropriately-sized, lockable toolbox

Safety shoes are required.
