Job Description:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing and development machining environment

  • Demonstrated ability to program, setup, and operate machine shop equipment including CNC Lathes, Mills, Drill Presses, surface grinders, EDM machines, etc.

  • HAAS CNC experience a plus

  • Tsugami SWISS Machines experience preferred

  • CNC Programming from CAD model file experience

  • SURFCAM /SOLIDWORKS/or equivalent experience is recommended

  • Familiar with many different materials including in aluminum, stainless steel, and various plastics.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with high machining accuracies to support critical tolerance requirements

KEY DUTIES:

  • Operating CNC Lathes, Mills, Drill Presses, surface grinders, and other tools as required

  • Programming CNC Mills and Lathes based on Engineering CAD model files

  • Building engineering samples upon request from design engineering group

  • Machining tooling and fixtures for engineering and manufacturing as required

  • Perform machine maintenance as needed

  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and CAD models to support machining operations

  • Perform heat treatment of parts for hardness as required

  • Experience machining injection molds and performing mold maintenance a plus

  • Technical drawing skills

  • Tool design

  • Advanced operation of machine shop tools

Description 1st and 2nd Shift Positions Available. For 2nd Shift: Must be available during training period to work on 1st Shift (7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.) prior to transferring to 2nd Shift (3:15 p.m. - 11:45 p.m.) Monday - Friday with overtime and weekends as needed. JOB SUMMARY: Operates CNC machines in compliance with departmental procedures. Must be capable of basic operation of CNC machine and barfeeder, and must be capable of inspecting and changing worn or broken tools. The Machine Operator performs basic trouble-shooting with routine guidance required from the lead Machinist or Management personnel. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: * Performs routine operation of assigned machine(s), including start-up and shutdown. Loads raw material into barfeeder and adjusts to machine. * Keeps machine running throughout shift, while monitoring product quality through regular inspection intervals. * Troubleshoots and corrects minor problems, obtaining assistance from lead machinists and / or Management when needed. Replaces assigned tooling as needed, i.e. drills, taps, etc. * Support team environment including any cell manufacturing tasks that are needed (i.e. cleaning of product). * Ensures that all documentation is in order (part number, revision, etc) and is kept at the workstation. Enters data on production documents regarding quantity produced, hours worked, etc. * Performs general housekeeping in work areas (cleaning work surfaces, mopping, etc). Job Requirements Qualifications REQUIREMENTS: * High School Diploma or GED * Minimum one (1) year experience working as a CNC Machine Operator on lathe style machines * Ability to communicate verbally, read and interpret documents in English * Knowledge of precision inspection equipment and methods (micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, etc.) PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: * College Level Machining classes and/or formal CNC training * Experience with Swiss Screw machines * Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office knowledge PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demandsdescribed here are representative of those that must be met by an employee tosuccessfully perform the essential functions of this job.
