The machinist will Setup and operate all types of machine tools, such as but not limited to lathes, milling machines, CNC, grinders, saws and lappers to be used to machine metal, plastic or other pieces to specifications, tooling instructions or standard charts by applying knowledge of machine methods. Able to work in a Team atmosphere and operate under 5S organizational practices.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Creates and modifies product fixtures and tools using machine equipment and techniques acquired by experience.
Set up and operate CNC Vertical Machining Centers (VMC).
Edit CNC programs as needed.
Machines and modifies prototype parts and fixtures and engineering tooling as directed.
Perform basic maintenance on CNC, VMC, HMC, Turning Center and manual machines.
Able to follow Instructions and GMP Standards in a regulated environment
Perform other duties as required
Work in a Team atmosphere with different departments as needed
5-7 years' experience in layout, design and manufacturing high precision molds for injection molding, preferably thermoplastic and silicone
Experience programming and operating a high performance CNC machining center machining using hardened stainless steel in an injection mold environment.
Knowledge and experience using a 3D CAD/CAM system utilizing surfaces and solid models (SolidWorks preferred)
Experience selecting appropriate tooling and machine accessories
Experience setting up and using part probes and laser tool gage probes
Ability to develop and document effective machining strategies.
Ability to use inspection aids and equipment (micrometers, microscope, indicators, calipers, etc.)
Experience working with a mold shop team, contribute to mold build planning.
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Good written and oral communication skills
