The CNC Machinist performs tasks related to program editing, set-up, operation, trouble-shooting and preventive maintenance for CNC machines, furnaces, custom process machines and production support equipment. Ensures the maintenance of a safe work environment with an ultimate goal of zero accidents.
Job Core Responsibilities
Accurately reads manufacturing prints, machine drawings and operator's manuals, adjusts tooling and process parameters, interprets programs and interacts with service technicians to solve problems
Operates material handling equipment including hoists and cranes, tow motors, pallet trucks and other miscellaneous equipment
Must be able to use a variety of measuring equipment and perform other tasks related to carbon brake disk manufacturing
Required to train other associates as required, in equipment set-up, operation and trouble-shooting along with various other manufacturing processes and procedures
Monitors and records data and makes adjustments as needed to achieve processing requirements
Performs troubleshooting while operating equipment, including performing and documenting limited preventative maintenance
Tracks orders and utilizing appropriate equipment, moves material to enable the production process to flow efficiently and effectively
Orders production and non-production materials necessary to the normal operation of the facility
Must be able to communicate information, as required, to all other individuals involved in normal operation of the facility
Responsible for observing safe work practices and maintaining a safe and clean work area
Subjected to dust, fillings, chips, heat and noise in the normal performance of their duties
Education: A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.
Certifications: Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field
Years Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience
Skilled in the use of hand tools including calipers, depth gages, micrometers, and other measuring equipment, and machinery
Detailed reading comprehension and intermediate mathematical skills to accomplish the job requirements
Able to correctly and accurately utilize computers and the appropriate software programs in the performance of their job responsibilities
Able to solve problems in situations that are atypical or infrequently occurring based on existing precedents or procedures
Willing to work in teams for daily production and improvement opportunities
Good attention to detail
