Responsibilities

In keeping with the Dignity Health core values, supports and promotes the provision of quality patient care. Actively participating member is systems, functions and activities of the unit/department. The CNA provides care for and activities of daily living, comfort and safety.

This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Six (6) months recent hospital or long term care facility experience as CNA

  • High school education

  • Successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant program

  • Nurse Assistant Certification (CT NA)

  • CPR certification (CT CPRBLS)

  • Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.

Special Skills:

  • Communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately.

  • Ability to utilize and learn new computer programs for documentation

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships

  • Operate IVAC thermometer, vital sign check machine, blood pressure cuff.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic procedures

  • Ability to educate family members regarding appropriate activities listed below, as indicated by ability of resident and willingness of family

  • Ability to perform care functions that may include, but not necessarily be limited to:

  • Ambulation

  • Eating assistance

  • ADLs

  • ROM (AROM & PROM)

  • Bowel and Bladder Training

  • Splint/Brace/Prosthesis placement/care
