Current MD CNA License & CPR/BLS Card.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Must be available for 1 week hospital orientation (8:00am-4:30pm) & then orientation within the unit - to be discussed with the manager during an interview.


The Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) functions within the Scope of Practice outlined by the Maryland Board of Nursing. Helping patients with activities of daily living and other healthcare needs under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the safe delivery of quality patient care, while supporting unit operations.


Feed, bathe and dress patients.

Take patient vital signs.

Serve meals, make beds and keep rooms clean.

Set up medical equipment and assist with some medical procedures.

Answer calls for help and observe changes in a patient's condition or behavior.

Secretarial skills - working with computers.

Ability to communicate effectively and work as a team.

Furnishes clerical and technical support for the department. Provides patient services to the infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations. Supports and participates in continuous quality improvement activities. Perform 12-Lead EKG's as directed by RN under patient care activities. Flexibility may be required to help support Administrative roles and ordering of supplies. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required: * Certified Nursing Assistant required. * Ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology required. * Satisfactory completion of Technician IV Skills class within three months. * CNA Certification from the Maryland Board of Nursing as required by Health Occupations Article Title 8-6A-01. * Current CPR certification. * Familiarity with Hospital Information Systems. * Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for patients in all age groups. Physical Demands: Medium-Heavy Work - Lifting up to 75 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes) and/or carrying up to 35 pounds while walking. Pushing or pulling up to 115 pounds infrequently or greater than 115 pounds occasionally (no more than once per hour). Working Conditions: * Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Risk Category A - WILL have exposure to blood or body fluids. * Exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials and highly technical and heavy equipment. * Exposure to conditions normally found in clinical areas such as unpleasant sights, sounds, odors and communicable diseases.
