Purpose of Job Position

As a Consulate Health Care Nurse Tech I (CNA/STNA), you are entrusted with the responsibility of caring for our residents, families, co-workers, visitors, and all others; as well as demonstrating in all interactions, Consulate Health Care's five core values of Compassion, Honesty, Integrity, Respect, and Passion. The primary purpose of the CNA/STNA position is to provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily nurse aide care and services in accordance with the resident's assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisors. You are entrusted to provide innovative, responsible healthcare with the creation and implementation of new ideas and concepts that continually improve systems and processes to achieve superior results.

Job Function

As a Nurse Tech I (CNA/STNA), you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. The CNA/STNA works under the direction of licensed personnel to provide quality resident care in accordance with applicable regulations.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.

  • Ability to be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and team concept.

  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.

  • If any, report complaints and grievances made by the resident immediately to your Supervisor. Participate in resident care assessments.

  • Assist in development of resident treatment plans.

  • Provide direct care in accordance with treatment plans, as directed by the Director of Clinical Services/Assistant Director of Clinical Services/Clinical Nurse.

  • Demonstrate understanding of and utilize proper infection control practices/policies.

  • Accompany residents, as needed, to various activities and functions.

  • Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Participate in restorative nursing program.

  • Act in compliance with all corporate, state, federal, and other regulatory standards.

Education and Experience

Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or GED equivalent and be certified/registered in the state of practice. NEW GRADS WELCOME!

Our dedication to patients is reflected in the ongoing recognition of our Centers of Excellence, which include: Heart & Vascular Institute * Advanced Certification for Heart Failure * Chest Pain Center with PCI * Advanced Primary Stroke Center * Cancer Care The PCT performs a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN) in a complementary and assistive role. He/she assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance to the PCT's training, competence and skills, hospital policies and procedures and the State Board of Nursing rules for delegated nursing tasks to unlicensed personnel. Consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, adequately stocked and safe patient care environment Under the supervision of the RN, performs delegated patient care activities as directed and ordered in accordance with one's training, competence and skill. Delegated tasks may include: The PCT will obtaining vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, calorie counts, application of ice/heat, and/or simple non-sterile dressing changes. Safe patient handling: Turning and positioning, use of specialty beds, patient transfer and use of transfer devices, ambulation assistance and use of assistive devices, restraint alternatives, oxygen use and transport, suction use, pre-operative skin preparation and/or use of sequential compression devices (SCD) Communicates timely and accurate information for delegated patient care activities performed to include observed patient response to performed activities to the assigned RN in a written or verbal format following hand-off communication guidelines.Assists patients with performing activities of daily living to include bathing, shaving, oral care, toileting, grooming, changing linens, providing water, ambulation, assisting with meal delivery and feeding as directed. Performs hourly rounding, consistently uses AIDET when interacting with patients and answers and responds to call lights timely.May retrieve medication from pharmacy, medication storage room or tube system and deliver to a licensed staff member. Assists with the cleaning of equipment.Must learn and comply with facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
