CMT Marketing Internship (Contemporary Marketing Team) - Summer 2020

This Intern Program is designed to provide Marketing Interns with hands-on experience in Sales and Marketing. Interns will be representing one of Tampa Bay's premiere zoological establishments, ZooTampa at Lowry Park. This program will provide interns with the ability to establish brand awareness for ZooTampa within the Tampa Bay hospitality community. Interns will be empowered to establish and foster relationship building with the intent of keeping the Zoo top of mind by performing in-market sales within various marketing channels.
Interns will learn and assist with marketing techniques in sales, promotions and presentations and will have exposure to various marketing-related functions and responsibilities in a non-profit environment.
Other functions include:
Visit local and regional Convention Visitors Bureau, AAA offices and other ticket vendors.
Assist with establishing brand awareness and presence in hotels and local concierge services.
Provide brand awareness via community outreach.
Support the Marketing and Sales Departments with outreach efforts by presenting at booths at various local special events and corporate functions.
Strategically place Zoo collateral in key locations throughout Tampa Bay.
Support in-park special events.
Plan and implement brand awareness initiatives in the community.
Junior, Senior, Graduate student or recent graduate with major coursework toward a degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management, Marketing or Public Relations.
Possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
Be a self-starter who works well independently.
Ability to lift minimum of 30 pounds.
Displays an outgoing and engaging personality.
Must have a valid Florida Driver License and reliable transportation.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
A minimum of 10 hours per week, preferably 15-20. Work days are primarily Sunday through Saturday within Zoo operating hours (9:30 AM to 5:00 PM). Hours are flexible.
If total semester internship hours must equal more than 15-20 hours per week, additional hours may be arranged.
If an internship offer is made, it is contingent on:
Candidates seeking academic credit must have arrangements agreed upon between the Zoo and their school before beginning the internship.
All offers are contingent on the successful completion of a criminal background screening and execution of a required hold harmless/liability release agreement.
Candidate will be responsible for the cost of the background check (typically $25 but certain jurisdictions may have additional fees).
Interns must have personal health insurance coverage for illness or injury (as volunteers and interns are not covered by the Zoo workers' compensation program).
Internships are unpaid and are designed to meet academic requirements, as applicable, and provide valuable real-world experience for participants. Successful completion of an internship may also yield letters of recommendation, a portfolio of their work when applicable and important networking contacts.
Who is eligible?
Applicants must be a Junior, Senior or Master's level students or recent graduates. Applicants must submit an Internship Application, cover letter and resume in order to be considered for a position.
