As a CMP Engineer in the TTMCY (Time to Mature Cumulative Yield) team at IM Flash, you will work with industry-leading semiconductor process technologies related to new memory devices. In this position you will develop and optimize Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) polishers and processes necessary for advanced Memory integration flows. You will take ideas from conception through development and implementation. You will be working alongside other Equipment Engineers, Process Development Engineers, and Process Integration Engineers to focus and accelerate development of technology that will lead to a commercially successful high-density memory. You will be responsible for the evaluation of new hardware platforms, performing fundamental research, consumable development, and generation of intellectual property relevant to the company. As Engineer you will drive the CMP technology roadmap, partner with R&D teams to develop processes that meet device requirements for future technology nodes, and transfer processes to high volume manufacturing facilities

  • Own and drive Equipment/Process improvements to eliminate yield impacts that enable the roadmap to product maturity

  • Organize well designed experiments to understand the interaction between process and hardware parameters and use this knowledge to optimize product performance

  • Partner with Vendor and R&D Fab to find and validate innovative engineering solutions that reduce defects and provide higher process margin

  • Perform fundamental research, Hardware and consumables development, and generation of intellectual property

  • Train and mentor area engineers on equipment, problem solving, and new solution transferred from R&D or provided by Vendors

  • Keep Area leadership as well informed of key area and technology issues and timelines to resolve. Help escalate and resolve any roadblocks to timelines

  • Managing and partnering with Vendors actively communicating key information and work to escalate and resolve identified roadblocks to timelines

  • Stay current with industry developments and innovations by reading research articles and occasionally attending conferences

  • Partnering with the tactical engineering team to prioritize and find solutions to chronic issues

  • Creating and executing a roadmap for improving tool performance and availability


  • Understanding of on board metro tool such as NANO and NOVA and its metrology principles, challenges and methodologies

  • Advanced knowledge of 300 mm AMAT and EBRARA polishers

  • In-depth understanding of chemicals and slurries global and local delivery Systems, consumables and processes necessary for device program development

  • Ability to research and stay current with the latest technology requirements

  • Advanced data extraction, analysis, and reporting skills

  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills using appropriate methods for problem definition, interim containment, model building and validation, and implementation of solutions that address root cause

  • Strong partnering and teamwork skills

  • Proven ability in multi-tasking complex projects, time management, organization, and prioritization skills

  • Ability to direct and manage consumables and equipment vendors to solve challenging problems limiting overall program goals

  • Ability to write clear roadmaps to identify projects to address cost, capability and defectivity

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Desire to continually learn, publish papers, disclose patents, become a member of the technical staff and advance to higher levels of responsibility

Education and Experience

  • Five years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing preferred.

  • Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering degree. PhD or MS preferred. WIll Also consider Material Science, Chemistry, and Physics with a focus in semiconductor manufactiring

You will take ideas from conception through process development and implementation to enable high volume manufacturing success. You will be working alongside Equipment Owners, Process, Process Owners, Process Integration, to focus and accelerate development of next generation memory technology. As a TTMCY Equipment Engineer, you will also drive technology roadmaps, partner with vendors to develop equipment to meet and improve device performance for future technology nodes. TTMCY Equipment Job Responsibilities * Completing all required safety training and ensuring that all work is conducted in accordance with IM Flash safety policies * Following all controlled documentation and submitting updates to content when needed * Ensure all testing is completed with proper Pre-task Plans (PTP) or required JHA * Model creation for yield impacting problems and correlation to area equipment/process. * Model validation testing to prove yield impacting theories for both process and equipment * Improve test wafer qualification methodology to replicate product and give the area reliable metrics to monitor tool and process health * Clearly identifying and quantify problem statements impacting yield/reliability for the area * Creating and executing roadmaps for improving area and fab yield metrics which may also include tool metrics as the primary indicator * Serving as the liaison between PI/RDA/ME/PE for yield issues associated to equipment and process performance * Partner with Equipment Owners to evaluate risks associated to new hardware, software, and technology improvements * Advanced understanding of equipment constants, recipe control, and equipment functionality to enable controlled testing to validate improvements * Creating YIP projects to document testing and model validation to improve yield. * Attending PI Module meetings, Area Yield Meetings (YAM), Area focus teams, engagement/ownership to drive PL1/PL2 area yield issues. * Engaging with multi-area module based teams to drive yield and technology development. * Partnership with vendors, HVM Process Owners, ME Equipment Owners to collectively drive yield efficiently. Including evaluation of vendor road maps and back qualify upgrades on existing tool sets. Improvement through supplier engagement business process. * Ability to execute and own conversions including SWR ownership and GCP ownership. * Process and Tool characterization to ensure optimized setting for yield and metric performance. Also includes down line processing impact to ensure final product is correctly centered to maximize yield. Qualifications Qualifications: * Advanced understanding of semiconductor equipment and processes * Fundamental understanding of chemical reactions, material interactions within the semiconductor processing * Demonstrated strong understanding of SPC principles * Basic understanding of probe electrical tests and how to access the data * Strong understanding of the use and risks of GeRM * Proven ability to communicate and present effectively * Advanced data extraction, analysis, and reporting skills.
