Salary Range: $14.80 - $23.32

Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant will perform and assist with clinical procedures, maintain equipment, perform laboratory procedures, and provide direct patient care.

Detailed Description:

Respond to general patient inquiries regarding treatment and clinic policies and procedures. Prepare patients for the health care visit by accompanying them to the examining room, providing examination gowns and drapes, positioning patients for examination and treatment, and arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.

Verify patient information by interviewing the patient, reviewing and recording medical history, taking vital signs, and confirming the visit or treatment purpose.

Assist health care providers during examinations, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments. Administer medications on the premises, authorize drug refills as directed, and telephone prescriptions to pharmacies. Prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory tests on the premises, and draw blood. Prepare patients for x-rays, take electrocardiograms, remove sutures, and change dressings.

Educate patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions and answering questions. Complete records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.

Maintain stock levels and order clinic supplies. Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions and troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.

Consistently communicate professionally and courteously.

Provide in-service training and precepting as directed.

May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

Required Qualifications:

One of the following certifications:

• -Clinical Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
• -Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
• -Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
• -Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
• -Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) by the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
• -Medical Assistant Certification (MAC) by the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
