POSITION SUMMARY: Plans, develops, and participates in work units; assists in job placement management; works side by side with members on a daily basis to accomplish the work of the Clubhouse. Supervises work units that provide opportunity for learning or relearning work-related skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, coordinates and encourages member participation in the work services units (e.g. vocational related activities including resume building, job searches) through creative techniques

  • Facilitates a daily unit meeting which includes daily planning, unit problem resolution, group decision making, development of on-going unit activities, and discussion of member personal and work-related issues

  • Develops leadership opportunities for the unit members to aid in assisting them with self-empowerment by participating in outreach activities and in the development of programs and special events

  • Supervises unit members which includes prioritizing work of the unit, assessing member skills, assigning job tasks, and providing feedback

  • Coordinates daily outreach activities to include contacting absent members, corresponding in writing when unable to contact by telephone

  • Maintains all necessary records regarding unit members as directed by program leadership

  • Performs placement management activities to include learning duties of each position assigned, providing on-the-job-training to members for as long as necessary, providing a minimum of two on-site follow-up visits monthly for the duration of the placement

  • Assists in evaluation program needs and makes recommendation for program development, expansion, including input on facilities' needs and purchases

  • Maintains programmatic philosophies and ideals as stated in Clubhouse standards

  • Works collaboratively with other service providers, support systems and social service programs utilized by the members for the facilitation of Clubhouse activities

  • Provides case management services as needed with tasks such as calling for benefit entitlement, contacting residential program about a member issue, taking clients out to Base Service Units (BSUs) Shares vocational related activities, evening, weekend, and unit responsibilities. Available to work occasional Saturday, evening, and holiday hours

  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and crisis intervention using agency-trained protocols

  • Perform other duties as assigned

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Program Supervisor

DIRECT REPORTS: None

CONTACTS: Clients, client families, and other supports, Elwyn staff, various community stakeholders (such as employers, county representatives, other agencies, etc.)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must meet on of the following qualifications as stipulated in 5230.51(c) of the psychiatric rehabilitation regulations:

  • Bachelor's degree, or

  • Associate's degree and one (1) year work experience in mental health direct service, or

  • Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) certificate and one (1) additional year paid or volunteer work experience in mental health direct service, or

  • High school diploma or equivalency and two (2) years' work experience in human services which must include one (1) year of mental health direct service

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities

  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail

  • Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision

  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions

  • Must be able to perform CPR and crisis intervention using agency-trained protocols

  • Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated basic experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Must have current, valid driver's license in state of residence, three (3) years driving experience in the United States, and acceptable driving record
