Who we are looking for

We are seeking a driven and talented Cloud Engineer, with a DevOps or development background, to join our thriving Cloud Services business unit and work with some of the best Cloud Architects and Cloud Engineers in the market. This individual will bring a passion for technology, a strong technical skillset, and proven experience in the DevOps or development space.

The Cloud Engineer will be joining our Navy team at Patuxent River Naval Air Station. This position requires an ACTIVE DoD Secret Clearance and a current DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).

  • Define and engineer solution capabilities that satisfy customer business drivers/requirements and meet service delivery objectives

  • Produce Infrastructure as Code artifacts

  • Develop and utilize deployment and process automation capabilities (scripts, applications, platforms, APIs) to ensure processes are defined, repeatable, scalable, and able to be disseminated for wider utilization; may include capabilities such as Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.

  • Configure and deploy Microsoft Windows and Linux servers and systems using automation techniques and Cloud Service Provider user interfaces (graphical, API, and CLI)

  • Produce high-quality, well-written technical documentation, including usage instructions, diagrams, procedures, etc.

  • Take ownership of solutions, assignments, actions items, and issues, and remain accountable for their completion

  • Work effectively with other team members, customers, and key stakeholders and foster team success

  • Provide transparent and regular status updates in requested format

  • Be willing to learn, collaborate, contribute and improve

  • Achieve and maintain AWS or other cloud certification levels

What you need to succeed

  • A "sure can!" attitude

  • A degree in a technical discipline

  • 3+ years of experience in a role that encompasses systems engineering

  • Ability to dissect technical architectures into engineering plans and development tasks

  • Ability to develop and deploy Production-ready AWS solutions through Infrastructure as Code

  • Experience writing Terraform and AWS CloudFormation templates

  • Experience with manual and automated security administration, remediation, and hardening (STIG reviews, group policy and permissions, system modifications based on vulnerability scans, audits, and mitigations; patch management)

  • Ability to write scripts in Javascript, Bash, Python, PowerShell, or similiar

  • A good understanding of foundational cloud components (e.g.: VPN, Direct Connect, IAM, CloudWatch, "cross-account" capabilities)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytic, organization, presentation, customer service, and facilitation skill

What would set you apart

  • Experience working across multiple vendors or directly with customer teams in support of common goals

  • Hands-on experience writing and deploying AWS Lambda functions

  • Experience writing or modifying Terraform templates

  • Knowledge of containers and related services

  • Knowledge of serverless architecture patterns (or AWS Serverless Application Model) and their component

Job Summary Centauri seeks a Senior Cloud Application Developer/Engineer to design and deliver novel large-scale enterprise computing solutions in support of the Naval Aviation Enterprise, with a focus on advancing the state-of-the-art in "Big Data" applications and platforms that impact NAVAIR and the greater US Navy Electronic Warfare (EW) community. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, applied mathematicians, engineers, and network infrastructure personnel to design, test and deploy software and database solutions to extend and mature a nationwide data network and cloud platform. Develop algorithms and data models that scale through the Petascale and are uniquely tailored to the needs of US Navy EW and Flight Test community. Primary Responsibilities/Duties: The primary duties/responsibilities of the Senior Cloud Application Developer/Engineer may include but are not limited to the following: * Design develop and document software and database solutions designed to enhance the operation of the customer's cloud platform and data network. Such applications may range from server-side applications that consist of software deployed to the network to run as software defined appliances, data retrieval or processing utilities, to client-side user interface applications and client-exposed Application Program Interfaces (APIs) and Software Development Kits (SDKs) * Interface with, maintain, refine and expand the customer's NoSQL Document Shared Database, associated Information Exchange Model (IEM), and search algorithms deployed to manipulate said database. Integrate these methodologies with other software products within the team's portfolio to support the construction and maintenance of automated data routing, data management and data processing pipelines * Define and communicate application and cloud platform related network and infrastructure requirements to associated Infrastructure and IT personnel as required to successfully realize a particular software defined or database enabled capability as deployed to a Wide Area Network (WAN). Provide technical guidance to infrastructure and IT personnel as needed as informed by lower-level application requirements. * Interface with Engineers and SME's within the program of interest as needed to understand underlying relationships within a given data set to inform IEM design, schema document design (mostly JSON/BSON and XML), database indexing, and search algorithm design and optimization. Work as an embedded specialist within a multidisciplinary team typical to a DoD Air Vehicle Mission Systems or Air Vehicle Performance development program. Required Qualifications: * Must be detail-oriented, organized and work well in a team environment independently. Must be comfortable with software development, algorithm development, and algorithm documentation tasks, as well as research new methods and approaches as needed to fulfill client application requirements. * At least five (5) years' experience in software development and engineering, covering tasks such as requirements analysis, software architecture, software development, software installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, application security, testing, and debugging. * At least five (5) years' experience programming in a compiled object-oriented higher-level language of interest, such as Java/Java EE, C/C++ and C# (Java/Java EE and C/C++ Preferred). * Strong grasp of Object-Oriented Design (OOD), OO programming techniques, and design patterns.
