Genesis10 is seeking a Cloud Platform Developer for a multinational tire manufacturing company. This is a W2 direct-hire position in Akron, OH.

Job Description:

  • Our infrastructure is rapidly evolving on Amazon Web Services

  • Create and implement a shared vision for stable, long term cloud platform and process solutions. You will help integrate this as a fundamental part of the data science work flow.

  • Lead the effort to create and maintain data workflows across manufacturing, analytics, and corporate centers.

  • Help integrate data pipelines with cloud computing environments across the organization, to support internal and external project development.

  • Work closely with other data scientists to scale up platforms for data solutions across diverse business and manufacturing applications.

  • Have an impact by helping us drive "best data practices" within the global organization.


  • B. Sc required and M.Sc. in Computer Science or similar technical field preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in big data infrastructure or platform development

  • Experience working with at least one subject in each of the following technology groups:

  • Cloud platforms: AWS/Azure/Google reliable cloud platforms at scale, preferably server-less compute-related experiences

  • Building clean, REST/Thrift APIs

  • Ability to automate and orchestrate the provisioning of application and infrastructure services

  • Understanding of security concepts related to cloud

  • Supporting data science and data engineering workflows

  • Demonstrated knowledge of: Cloud platform technology at scale (e.g. Lambda, Fargate, Cloud Formation, AWS CLI); Automation and orchestration tools (e.g. Puppet, Chef, Ansible, SaltStack, and Terraform); Data science tools (e.g. Python, R, Java/Scala, Docker, Kubernetes); Cloud security (e.g. firewall, proxy, key management, IAM, certificate management)

  • Knowledge of foreign languages

The technical side of an Analytics Services Developer understands how to pull databases together, model solutions, and write code to query data. They like learning how to best utilize technology to solve problems. The analyst side of an Analytics Services Developer is naturally curious, good at listening, asking questions, and digging into business processes to devise innovative solutions to business problems. At FirstEnergy, the IT Analytic Services Developer uses the QlikView technology to build reporting solutions. Responsibilities Include: * Design, develop, and test QlikView scripts to import data from source systems and test QlikView reports/dashboards to meet customer requirements * Write SQL code to extract and transform data to present to the user * Use the QlikView tool to design, development and support business intelligence dashboards and reports * Effectively visualize data in QlikView applications (dashboards, reports, etc.) in order to efficiently answer business questions * Perform detailed analysis of source system data and model that data in QlikView * Complying to the FirstEnergy QlikView development standards and governance to ensure FirstEnergy's QlikView platform remains stable, reliable, and secure for all users * Active participation in a collaborative work environment, across both IT and the business * Frequent interaction with business owners/stakeholders to gather requirements for new development projects, assist in defect resolution during testing, etc. As a FirstEnergy Intern you will also be expected to: * Fully participate in the FirstEnergy Co-Op/Intern program mandatory events * Utilize knowledge, skills and abilities to work on challenging assignments and contribute to FirstEnergy's success * Gain understanding of the electric utility business and seize the opportunity to explore potential career paths at FirstEnergy * Engage in candidate self-assessments and use supervisory feedback to improve your performance * Develop career contacts and receive guidance from coaches and peers * Network with other students * Present to department members and leadership at the end of each session/rotation to highlight projects and contributions.
