Our experts engage with customers to understand their business drivers, assess application portfolios, design reliable and cost-effective hybrid cloud infrastructures, create transition plans and develop business cases to justify the programs. Our engagements include projects covering thousands of applications across tens of thousands of servers and involve developing a shared vision, leading the customer through the challenges of cloud adoption, demonstrating the reality of the vision and then enabling them to achieve full operational integration.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about:

  • Engaging with C-level executives to define Enterprise cloud strategies.

  • Identifying motivators for cloud adoption and unlocking Enterprise challenges.

  • Analyzing application portfolios, identifying dependencies & common infrastructure platform components, and assessing migration feasibility.

  • Architecting hybrid AWS and on-premise solutions for technology clusters and patterns.

  • Establishing shared IT service centers for Cloud operations.

  • Cost/Benefit modeling and creating compelling business cases for migration.

  • Generating AWS migration roadmaps and driving buy-in across complex organization structures.

  • Collaborating with consulting and managed services partners to build and execute migration plans.

Job Description The Virtual Compute and Operating Platforms team is responsible for highly complex, long term, multi-national projects across many divisions and business units. We provide leadership, direction, services to high priority and special projects. We extend our cloud enterprise continuum by evolving respective architectural artifacts and corresponding solutions. We explore, envision, develop, plan and deliver cloud based solutions enabling business requirements. As Cloud Platform Architect you will work closely with our Businesses and Partners while drawing on years of architectural and management experience, in-depth cloud based knowledge, and technical skills to ensure the work is of the highest caliber and exceed client expectations. You will have the required expertise to identify, develop, and implement measures that transform and evolve the enterprise with innovative cloud solutions, modernize environments, thereby changing the status quo. Your contributions will improve resource elasticity, provisioning, be broadly accessible, serve multiple businesses, and be measurable resulting in increased efficiencies and effectiveness in our digital space. Responsibilities for this role include: * Build Relationships with key partners and develop a deep understanding of customer and business requirements. * Creatively solve problems that arise in design or implementation phases when migrating or deploying to the cloud * Design solution and cloud infrastructure solutions/patterns that align with Manulife's strategic direction * Guide and consult for various cloud services in use at Manulife * Improve process, automation and services continuously with automation, roadmaps, and practices that exceed industry standards * Responsible for high level application and detailed infrastructure end-to-end strategies, designs, standards, processes, practices and tools supporting cloud solutions * Participate in the enterprise wide cloud architecture strategy and framework * Influence enterprise partners to further mature cloud policies, procedures and requirements * Review and approve cloud components originating from within regions, divisions, and business units * Facilitate collaboration and connection between disparate business unit initiatives, keep an eye to the bigger picture. Qualifications for this role are as follows: * Active listener striving to understand requirements, underlying needs and alternative perspectives * Effective executive communication skills * Significant understanding of cloud computing technologies, services, delivery models and vendors * Active positive teammate and effective individual contributor * Practical, hands on, working knowledge of networking configuration and Software Defined Networking challenges * Practical, hands on, working knowledge of Azure cloud services (Other cloud services providers an asset) * Minimum of 4 years of cloud computing deployment, configuration and architectural experience * Minimum of 8 years designing/managing large complex environments * Post-secondary degree, diploma, or equivalent demonstrate-able experience * Practical, hands on, programming and/or scripting experience i.e. Java, Python, PowerShell, BASH, Ruby * Practical, hands on, understanding of source control demonstrating GIT * Technically proficient, and aware of self-limitations, curious and excited to learn * Strategic thinker * Leader by example * Ability to multi-task under pressure * Ability to prioritize tasks weighted by importance and urgency * Ability to convey cloud concepts and recommendations to non-technical people. * Technically capable with cloud concepts, services and configurations * Technically capable with operating system configuration and management (Red Hat / Windows) * Can discover, comprehend and learn quickly This is a full time permanent role and can be worked in Boston MA, Toronto ON or remote.
