The Cloud Engineer, Sr. has in-depth knowledge of relational and cloud-based database management systems and associated applications interface technologies. The Cloud Engineer, Sr has extensive experience in Kubernetes, OpenShift, and AWS experience and will be a member of a team that will plan, design, and implement the overall AWS Cloud architecture as well as the migration of data and systems interfaces from legacy systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform modernization activities focused on the consideration of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and cloud solutions that will meet the Legacy Applications modernization objectives to support Customer Business processes

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable cloud infrastructure using AWS services

  • Provide insight and advice to senior managers and executives, concerning the strategic direction and applicability of enterprise-based products.

  • Utilize technical area expertise to assess the operational and/or technical baselines as specifically associated with the functional components.

  • Perform the required analysis to establish software and data systems information requirements and design specifications using methodologies for the development of prototype and/or large-scale hardware and software-based information processing systems and cloud-based Software as a Solution (SaaS) products

  • Deploy and manage Kubernetes and OpenShift clusters.

  • Design and implement containerized applications and microservices.

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate application deployment and infrastructure provisioning.

  • Implement DevOps best practices to enhance collaboration and productivity.

  • Develop and update Engineering Memorandums of Understandings, Engineering Memorandums of Agreements, and Service Level Agreements

  • Develop and update Interoperability certification requirements and specifications

  • Develop and update system performance requirements

  • Participate in technical reviews of requirements products

  • Develop and recommend evaluation criteria needed to perform best value assessments of proposed modernization solutions

  • Perform technical reviews of architecture and design artifacts for consistency with Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) policy as well as alignment with system requirements

  • Support briefings and other presentations to customers and stakeholders on a wide range of technical and other program topics

  • Design the software and data architectures to optimally support the total systems requirements of the customer

  • Participate in technical assessments and reviews to validate the technical approach and associated work products, designs, and implementation plans

  • Provide software development life cycle support, including the conduct of technical requirements analysis, design, development, performance measurement, verification and validation, deployment, change management, and transition

  • Support the design and development of system-to-system interface documents including System Interface Agreements

  • Contribute to the planning, designing, and implementation of the overall Cloud architecture to protect the program infrastructure and provide a secure method of accessing applications and the internet

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required and 12+ years of relevant experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and 4+ years of additional experience may be used instead of a degree and additional education, or relevant higher-level certifications may be used instead of experience

  • 5+ years of experience designing, developing, implementing, and securing cloud environments

  • 5+ years of experience with SaaS, PaaS, or other cloud-based security frameworks

  • 3+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and have previous experience consulting on and architecting the implementation of a wide range of innovative cloud security use cases

  • Full Computing Environment certifications for IAT-II IAW DoD 8570.01-M (CCNA Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, and SSCP)

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or similar certification

  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or similar certification desired

  • Possess and maintain a valid state motor vehicle operator's license

  • Active Secret or TS clearance, TS/SCI preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with Agile and/or federal software development environments preferred

  • Experience with systems and software architecture is desired

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and understand what is being described by the end user, including the ability to explain problem resolutions when necessary

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral

  • Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to analyze system functionality with customers and resolve production issues

  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision or guidance

  • Ability to occasionally work after hours and/or do on-call support

  • Ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines and ambiguity on some projects

  • Demonstrate ability to analytically address complex problems, process critical data, establish facts, and draw quality conclusions
